I didn't think I would like raw octopus, but it wasn't half bad
Everyone at dinner was saying 'stay away from the octopus, it's too chewy.' But it was only chewy near the skin surface. The inner parts were deliciously soft, with a mild flavor not dissimilar to mushrooms or shrimp, or perhaps both. I fully expected it to be nasty, but it was a pleasant surprise. I'm looking forward to trying it somewhere a bit closer to the ocean than where I am now. You can't get fresh sushi in the backwaters of Tennessee.

4. As I was eating it, my SO told me of a show on TV
Where people were eating live baby octopii. They'd be hidden in a bowl of noodles, and you had to stab down into them with your chop sticks, pick them up, and put them into your mouth while their tentacles went wild. And if you don't chew them thoroughly, the tentacles can choke you by locking onto your trachea.

I finished my sushi with a smile, but it was horrible to listen to.

tenticles... like a cartoon. And they turn white when frightened. I could never eat one. With lemon or raw. Or on a plane or on a train.

Don't mean to be a buzz kill. Got no problem with squid but the majestic octopus... diff. story.

5. I understand, and I agree that they are very intelligent
I used to wish I could have a salt water tank and an octopus, because they are beautiful, sensitive creatures. But I adore frogs, too, yet that hasn't prevented me from eating their legs.
