If he can arrange his finals - he plans on taking part in one of the local student protests on Wednesday.
(He is in high school - and is joining his HS chapter of YAWR - Youth Against War and Racism)
After years of underachieving, he may end this quarter on the A Honor Roll.

Sometimes it takes some of us a little time to get in step and find our direction. I was considered an "underachiever" but really I was just trying to figure out what the hell was going on..lol
It's cool to see that he is making you proud like this. :hi:

It does help that this year I can actually check up daily on whether he has turned in his assignments...
I think middle school was hard for him since he had 8 classes each term, 4 each meeting every other day...hard to keep it all straight.
He also has a little more control over what classes he takes. (electives are a gift from the academic gods!)

4. Would it be appropriate to ask here if this son might join |
|
The big DU? His mom's "coat-tails" would ensure that he has plenty of friends here and the DU could be a big advantage for him in his education. (Imagine how he would do in poly-sci classes with our "help" for instance).

That's cool that he wants to get involved in the anti-war movement. I wish I was that wise when I was his age. :hi:

One of his teachers said to the class that he thought the protest was a waste of time. This was the same teacher who seemed to have an issue about the political satire in my son's work (the class is a computer software class - intro to dreamweaver, flash and fireworks.)
I asked the teacher if the political satire was a problem for him...he hemmed and hawed (damn freepers!)

You have every right to be proud of him. What grade is he in if I can ask?

I'm glad to hear that at least one of us has an underachiever who saw the light, academically and politically.
