Poll question: What are your favorite childhood memories of?
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 10:43 AM by bertha katzenengel
Mine, sadly, are of food. Explains a lot.

If you choose "other," please describe.

Thanks!

PS Yes, I know, my subject line doesn't pass the preposition sniff test. Sue me. :hi:

5. playing Dodgeball
in the dead-end street. Piling into a wagon and riding down the hill straight into the curb. Riding bikes until our parents threatened our lives if we didn't come in. I really miss those days.

6. Music and skateboarding
More specifically the music I was into when I first started skateboarding. Always a fun nostalgia kick.

9. Interesting poll
I don't think I've ever thought about it this way. If I had to choose only one, it's play time. Through elementary school I knew no one who participated in organized activities more than one afternoon a week. We had plenty of time to built clubhouses and forts and castles out of scrap lumber and cardboard boxes (snow in the winter), play cards and board games, ride bikes, play on the wharves, railroad tracks and in other forbidden zones. We had to be dragged indoors for supper during the good weather. I think that's why we had little sense of being cramped in our little house (~ 1000 SF, usually populated by at least eight people.)

Thanks for making me think about it, Bertha.

12. my favourite
memories are of my grandfather. (granddad). He used to spend so much time with me, taking me to museums etc. He was an old softie! I miss him terribly. He passed away in the early 1970's a LONG time ago :(

thanks for making me remember Bertha!

13. my own
tie --

between

1. food and eating (it was the only thing I could reliably look forward to)

this was my favorite restaurant, gone now -- the Villa Sweden Smorgasbord

and

2. riding my bike alone down the Santa Ana River Trail to the beach. The trail runs past an oil refinery, which accounts for the very fond sense of nostalgia and happy memories I get whenever I detect that foul odor
