Some sick people think it's entertaining to torture (particularly black) cats or even "sacrifice" them. Other pets get scared by all the commotion w/ trick or treaters, etc. and could try to run away.

and the kids yelling at the front door. I am putting my cats in a back room safe and sound and shutting the outside lights off early so the kids stop coming. My cats' feeling safe is more important to me these days than the kids getting candy.
