What's the deal with the vote on Daylight Saving Time?
Did they extend it for next year or something? Why don't they call it standard time then - since it will be in effect for longer than the real Std time?

I am so confused.

2. Maybe we just can't fit the earth's rotation into our calendars
and clocks. I mean who would think nature would be so cooperative?

Heard somewhere that the human biorhythm is about 25 hours long, so we need a change each day.

That or Bush is hoping his unpopularity can get fixed in that extra hour.

3. It's smoke and mirrors, dumb ideas for the dumb
How dumb, change the clocks to fool us into thinking that the day is longer than 12 hours. Shit what it MEANS is it's an excuse for Corporate Amerika to get us to work an extra hour for free.

Think about it. What reasonable savings could we expect from an extra hour of daylight? NONE BECAUSE BUSINESS STILL CLOSES AT 5 PM UNLESS YOU ARE IN FOOD OR SERVICE. They'll make end of day 6PM.

Increase the gas millage of every new vehicle (15,000,000+ per year) by 2mpg and install low-wattage flourescent bulbs instead of incandesent in everty screw-in fixture in Amerika and the savings will be incredible.

Make homes just 10% more energy efficient and we'll reduce our dependencey on oil by 10% in 10 years with these simple changes.

But smart isn't what this fucked up administration is all about.

Rant over.

4. ???
If they make the day end at 6, people will go in an hour later.

I understand the 3rd and beyond paragraphs, though.

6. I think they want to pull another Nixon
During the gas crisis of his time, they switched DST to start in February for a couple years.
I wish they'd leave it on forever. Nothing says 'depression' like darkness an 4 PM.
