Any Veronica Mars fans on this board?
Last Wednesday, since Lost was a rerun, I watched this UPN show (about a sardonic, middle-class teenaged detective in a town full of upper-class a$$holes) for the very first time.

I thought it was just terrific. Intrigued, I rented the first four episodes of last season on DVD. My wife and I watched all of the episodes straight through. We'll probably try to pack in another three or four episodes a night over the next week until we can get caught up to the second season.

This show is a revelation. It's absolutely top-notch in just about every way. The acting is great (Kristin Bell, who plays Veronica, is about the best young actress I've ever seen, and her dad, played by "Just Shoot Me"'s Enrico Colantini, is equally awesome). It surpasses Lost, for me, as the best show currently on TV.

Just wanted to see if there was anyone else who had discovered this great show. It's the first "teen drama" I've ever watched with truly smart writing, great characters, and with no fear of dealing with class differences in this country.

2. I see it as a 21st-century "Rockford Files"
I was angering a coworker of mine by telling her that it was a modern "Nancy Drew", but then I had to admit that I had never seen the show. She finally talked me into watching it.

"Veronica Mars"'s sense of humor, pacing, and the interactions between the characters really remind me of that great 70s detective show "The Rockford Files" with James Garner. Same sardonic wit, fun, and surprises.

so i don't see that as an insult...hell i loved nancy drew! in the illustrations she was always bending over looking at the ground for clues...and boy did she have a fine ass!

4. Yeah, there's no denyin' that Nancy Drew was pretty hot
My sister had ALL of the Nancy Drew books, and I must confess that I had my fantasies. I think it was Nancy's red hair, brains, and her attitude.

But the woman who plays Veronica Mars is nothing to sneeze at, either.
