Comcast users: anyone else having problems?
My connection keeps dying for no apparent reason. I just wanted to see if anyone else is having problems before I call Comcast and spend the next hour trying to find a human being to talk to.

1. comcast user here and having no problems
remember to check the physical layer first. Whenever I have intermittent connection problems it can almost always be tracked back to the coax cable on the back of the cable modem working itself loose.

3. I checked that and it's fine. I've also unplugged and replugged it in
numerous times. That's the only reason I'm on right now. I've just gone the longest time (five minutes) without it dying on me since I got home an hour ago, so maybe it's better. I hope. This sort of thing really frustrates me.

2. Comcast user here, no problems.
Sometimes the signal goes off and I need to unplug the modem, reset it, then the router and reboot the computer. A pain, but no biggie.

Try resetting the modem first.

Seems okay so far, but who knows?

5. If you call them, they usually have a recording indicating
if there are problems in your area. When I get that, I just hang it up for the day and do something else.

6. Well, it's been fine for about ten minutes.
So I won't call them unless it goes out again. Wish me luck. I really hate comcast.

7. I've had better luck with Comcast than my friend who works
with me. We both telecommute, she has DSL and I have Comcast. Hers goes out all the damn time.

8. I've heard DSL has more problems. That is the only reason I haven't
left comcast in the dust. And I'm far too impatient for dial-up.

9. Alright! It was a problem with my area.
We called, and the guy told me no one would be able to come out until next Tuesday! I was pissed! He did say I would have it intermittently during the week so...

Then the guy just called back a few minutes ago and said the problem was with my whole area and it was fixed now.

I still hate comcast. Why didn't he know it was a problem with the whole area when I first called him?

10. I've had that happen too.
I don't trust anyone when I talk to Comcast. I call back at least once so I have two people tell me what's up, that's how bad I think they are.

Of course, the bad part about that is sitting on the line waiting for them.

11. Yes, you can sit on the phone for an hour waiting for a human.
It's horrible.
