Every day it gets a little easier until the day arrives that you don't crave a smoke anymore.

4. Almost Always sometimes. |

And I stopped in 1998-I just have to do that one day at a time thing.
Try to have a vivid dream about having a cigarette. I have had that happen a few times, where I wake up thinking I've broken down and my Body (except for my lungs) feels like it's had one. Really. then I don't feel so much like I need one for awhile
Stay strong! :hi:

..routine you have established around 'not smoking'. I think even never-smokers sometimes feel the need to 'fix'(ate) on something when their routine is knocked off a bit....could be something as simple as a change in the weather, or a new person at work...etc.
This will pass and you won't have smoked a cigarette..
Tikki & son....coming up on our 1 year anniversary...smoke-free.

Right now I'd probably step outside with you. Good thing we are not together. Do NOT cave in! I won't either.

You are young yet....don't go back to smoking, no matter how tempted you are....
It is so very damaging for EVERY system in your body......
You are stronger than your cravings, my dear......

That is exactly the kind of support that has kept me strong. :loveya: I'm determined not to slip up, but I sure can empathize with people who get the cravings.
You are so right, and so nice to express it to me as you have! Your concern for this enormous family is really impressive.

"I'm dying for a cigarette" "I'm dying for a cigarette" "I'm dying for a cigarette"....
When the truth of the statement finally hits you, you'll quit smoking.

I remember you posting about it in the beginning, when you were first working on quitting. I'm glad to hear you've made it so far!! I wish I could be there and help you find something else to do to distract you from the craving... bored.com? :)

16. Take a deep breath. Enjoy the clean air in your lungs. |
|
It'll help.
I honestly think that now, 3 months after I have quit, I have regrown "smell cells" in my nose or something. I have gotten to where I really can't stand to be around a smoker. My little brother has moved in with me and the smell of his clothes and his belongings is grossing me out horribly. I intend to attack it with Febreeze.
But three months ago, I would not have noticed it at all.
I can kind of sympathize with the Nazi-ex-smokers now. Before, I thought they were being oversensitive. Now, I understand how nasty stale smoke smells.

I get such strong urges to smoke I am afraid to leave the house out of fear I may drive myself to a cigarette!I step on the gas leaving work and go straight home.Honest to God,it's pathetic. Everybody tells me it passes.so we'll see.

But you don't NEED one. Think about it; you don't have that really tight feeling in your stomach and the nicotine-fit headache. Isn't it great that you don't NEED it?

19. I get a craving every now and then |
|
Gave up cigs 3 1/2 years ago. I still get a craving if I see someone smoke. I do still enjoy a cigar or pipe or hookah on occasion, but it doesn't have the addictive buzz that cigarrettes did, so I can put it away when I want to.

not so much wanting one, but wanting to want one. Like your sitch, I knew it would SUCK (one of the main reasons I felt forced to quit was that tobacco quality in the U.S. tanked) but I wanted one anyway. Just remind yourself how absolutely awful (nauseated, dirty, dizzy) you'd feel if you did it. See if a patch or gum helps.
