He died a few weeks ago. Why didn't anybody tell me?

1. At 79, that's a lot longer than I would have expected him to live. |
|
Big dudes with his stereotypical lifestyle and career usually don't last very long.

5. All Crush ever did was drink beer and smoke cigars |
|
He was from the pre-steroid era and was naturally built like an oil drum - just a heavily muscled, very strong guy who lifted a lot of weights. I knew a guy who was a shirttail cousin of the Crusher. He told me that after Reggie retired he ran a bar in Milwaukee, and if you asked him, he'd sit and tell wrestling stories till the cows came home.

3. I don't even remember seeing a tribute to him on WWE tv. |

Unless I missed it on a Smackdown.
It was in the Minneapolis Star Tribune when he died...but not until about a week afterwards.
On edit: Did anyone see that Christian just quit WWE? It's on the news and rumour websites, as well as WWE.com

I do not think that ole Crush ever appeared in the WWE, at least not as the Crusher we all knew and loved growing up. And if you didn't work for Vince you don't exist in his world. Those who watched the great Reggie Lisowski will never forget him - he was one of the most charismatic and entertaining wrestlers ever, and was a great brawler.
Christian did quit. Saw it on pwtorch.com. Dissatisfied with the way his character was being handled, and I don't blame him. He is on the verge of being a breakout babyface as a result of his "cool heel" act for the last few months. Betcha even money he's headed to TNA, which has been entertaining and shown some good wrestling the last couple of weeks. The athleticism of the TNA style and relative absence of gassed-up muscleheads will benefit him a great deal.
WWE hit an all time low last week on RAW with that ghastly Vince skit about J.R. And saying WWE hit an all time low is really saying something. I wouldn't mind seeing TNA take a real bite out of Vinny Mac's ass. We watch for the wrestlers and the wrestling, Vince, not to see your gassed-up 60-year-old ass pimping himself.

made mention of Crusher's passing on their website.. but I think that's about it.
And yes. . I do think Christian is going to be heading toward TNA. . . . . and I hope he finds his nitch there.
Yah . . . I'm not even going to comment on the J.R skit except it was one of only two times I ever felt embarassed to be a wrestling fan (First time would be. . umm . . Katie Vick anyone?) . . .
That's all I had to say :).

The Mark Henry/Mae Young thing for whatever reason that never really made me feel embarass I don't know why. . . but I can definitely understand those who did.

9. It was too stupid to be really gross |
|
Edited on Mon Oct-31-05 05:53 PM by MN ChimpH8R
The Katie Vick skit and last week's gross-out were, well, eeeeewwwwww. And I'm not even mentioning Big Boss Man and Al Snow's "Pepper Steak" skit or the BBM "stealing the casket of the Big Show's father." More eeew.
My vote is that last week's was worse because it degraded and denigrated a terrific announcer who has been the public face (and in many cases the fans' voice) of the WWE for many years. No matter how goofy or sleazy things got, Ross always handled himself like a professional and a decent guy. And this is the storyline treatment he gets? :puke:
Note to self - never EVER work for Vince McMahon no matter how much he offers to pay.
On edit: WWE has forgotten the basics of Pro Wrestling 101 - fans buy tickets and pay-per-views when there are basic solid storylines involving cocky heels cheating and screwing over tough, charismatic babyfaces through various nefarious means. Fans pay to see the heel get his ass royally kicked at the climax of the feud. It's that simple. Writing wrestling isn't rocket science. Paul Heyman can write good wrestling shows in his sleep. Too bad Stephanie and her crew of toadies wouldn't know a good wrestling show if it bit them on the ass.

Not disagreeing... I didn't mind the Pepper Steak thing. . . and the Casket thing . . was just so fucking out there and stupid I never gave it a second though.
And Jim Ross has been the face of Raw for so long . . I agree it was shameful what they did. (And Coach is just awful . . I want a real PBP man and quick). . .
Jim Ross wasn't also afraid to point out something he didn't like (His Ross reports were actually decent reads) . . . and like you said he was a professional and a decent guy . . and he's had a great career in this business and he's given it much love and much respect. He deserved better.
I hope TNA succeeds. . . things can only work out well if they do. I konw I'll be tuning in to there special Thursday show this week . . looks to be a fun show.

I wouldn't come back to Raw. Rumors are he is going to since Mike Goldberg (or whatever his name is) refused the WWE's offer.
Poor JR. He deserved to get treated better than that.

like someone above posted he was suppose to be permamently removed from the broadcast booth and replaced with Mike Goldberg. . but since Mike Goldberg refused it might just simply be storylined now. . .
regardless I think we are all in agreement the skit was disgraceful "nods".
