4. Actually he's lost 70 pounds.
What's the Peter Jackson Weight Loss Secret? Introducing the Skull Island Diet

What is the Peter Jackson weight loss secret? The image most of us have of the Lord of the Rings movie maker is a portly, bespectacled figure reminiscent of one of his Hobbit characters.
In a fact, film industry insiders and Jackson fans started noticing a new-look Peter Jackson nearly a year ago. But it's only now with all the publicity surrounding his soon-to-be released feature King Kong that the public at large have woken up to the slim, spectacle free version of the man and begun wondering about the Peter Jackson diet.
And it's not difficult to see why there's so much interest. The Peter Jackson weight loss has been impressive - he's shed some 70 pounds (32 kilograms).
<snip>
"I just got tired of being overweight and unfit, so I changed my diet from hamburgers to yoghurt and muesli and it seems to work," Jackson told Britain's Daily Telegraph newspaper. Jackson reportedly followed no specific exercise program either, but has spoken several times of his punishing 21-hour-a-day work schedule on the King Kong set, which no doubt accounted for part of the weight loss

2. Microsoft, film studios tap Jackson for 'Halo'
(So he will not be the director but will serve as the executive producer.)

By Lisa Baertlein
LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The Oscar-winning creative team behind the "The Lord of the Rings" films, including director Peter Jackson, has been named to run the production of the upcoming film based on Microsoft Corp.'s blockbuster "Halo" video game, the company said on Tuesday.

Jackson and his wife, Fran Walsh, will serve as the executive producers for "Halo," which is targeted for worldwide release in mid-2007 by Universal Pictures and Twentieth Century Fox film studios.
Universal will oversee the film's production and domestic distribution. Fox will handle international distribution.

"Halo" will be shot in Wellington, New Zealand, and will use Jackson's production and post-production facilities there.
"I'm a huge fan of the game and look forward to helping it come alive on the cinema screen," Jackson said in a statement.

6. Peter Jackson looks sooo different.
He also had laser surgery on eyes so no longer wears those big glasses. I just watched his first movie 'Bad Taste' last nite.

9. It's one of my favorite movies.
I have it on DVD but was disappointed that there was no commentary track. Other than that it's great.

8. Happy Birthday Peter! And thanks for never making a bad movie
You helped nurture my love for horror-comedy and over the top gore in Bad Taste and Brain Dead, split my sides in Meet the Feebles, brought two fascinating people to life in Heavenly Creatures, didn't sell out to Hollywood in The Frighteners and kept me in awe for 9 solid hours with The Lord of the Rings.

(Sadly I'm yet to see Forgotten Silver - the bootlegs on ebay are ever tempting.)
