I think I was drugged last night.
Seriously. I went to a local hangout to watch the Broncos play Philly. This is a local gay bar I've been to dozens of times. I had three or four beers and a shot or two of schnapps over the course of 3 hours - not that big a deal. I've had much more in my day and felt no ill effects at all!

Anyway, I left my seat for a minute, came back, and drank the rest of my bottle. Within about 20 minutes or so, I started feeling really crappy. It felt like I'd had way too much to drink, but I hadn't had that much - not enough to feel like that, anyway. I tried just to shake it off for a minute, but soon knew that if I didn't get out of there I was going to pass out on the floor. On the way to the car, my limbs began to feel really heavy. I made it to the car and just sat there for about 3 solid hours, alternately feeling that "heavy" feeling and maybe even passing out for a minute or two at a time. I felt very cold at one point and had to turn on the heat in the car (which made me nervous because I didn't want a cop to think I was actually going to try to drive.)

After three hours, I sat up and felt perfectly fine. Drove home with no problem at all. Went to bed - no hangover next day. Just NOT AT ALL the typical "had too much to drink, bed spinning" drunk thing.

That was the oddest, scariest experience I've had in a long, long time. I'll never go back to that bar.

1. Never, ever leave your drink unattended. It sounds like you were
drugged. I'm glad you're all right. It's hard to believe what some people are capable of doing but you do (sadly) have to guard against this kind of shit.

2. Sounds like you may have been
and it's happened here too, though the gay bar incidents aren't as well-publicised. The warning can apply to anyone - never leave an open drink unattended for any length of time.

Glad to know you came out of it OK.

4. Oh! How horrible
that must have been for you!

Did you notice anyone trying to hit on you? Did anyone try to follow you?

Have you contacted the bar?

That is so scary, I am so sorry that you had to go through that.

6. I did have some guys hit on me.
In fact, one of them asked me if I wanted to go do some coke. I said no thanks and he left with some other guys. But everyone else was just pleasant and friendly and talking about the game. ??

I'll talk to Rich the bartender that I know and let him know.

10. Hmmm....
That's interesting.

I would defiantly call the bar and let them know. They have a responsibility to protect their patrons as well as they can. I am sure they would be grateful to get a report.

Did you recognize the "cocaine" guy?

5. That is terribly scary!
The use of drugs in bars is more common than you think. A friend of mine thinks she was drugged by a guy she knew at a sports bar place. She was fine one minute and then blacked out - she thinks they had sex but she doesn't remember it (he basically told her that they did have sex and seemed surprised when she didn't remember it).

8. Sounds like GHB..
The one time I did it provided a similar experience. The thing is it tasted so foul (we drank it straight) I don't see how you couldn't notice it. But, it is the date rape drug so maybe we had a foul tasting batch.

9. GHB.
Sadly, guys like to drug our drinks where I work with the stuff. That is why it is called the date rape drug. You need to take stock of anyone who was trying to hit on you, etc. I have seen one girl go into convulsions from having this mixed in her drink...the combo with alcohol is very bad. Glad you are ok.............

21. I only drank maybe two swallows.
I had about half a bottle left - I drank maybe 1/3 of that before I started feeling sick, then didn't drink any more at all. Can't imagine what I'd have been like had I drunk the whole thing.

14. I'm really kicking myself for being so stupid.
I've read all the stories - guess I just thought it was something guys did to girls. Now I know better. Hopefully, this story might inform other people not to be naiive. There would have been no way I could have fought off someone if I'd had to. No way. I could barely raise my arms.

29. don't feel stupid!
You have every right to expect people to refrain from poisoning you! You've had a truly frightening experience. It sounds as though you may well have been in serious danger.

Given your report of feeling extremely cold and your arms and legs feeling heavy, it sounds as though you may have suffered a significant drop in blood pressure during the experience. This effect is rather characteristic of the tranquilizer rohypnol -- though your experience may have been caused by any number of things aside from drugging.

A visit to the doctor would be a very, very good idea -- and the sooner the better.

FWIW, rohypnol may remain detectable in urine for 48 to 60 hours after ingestion. GHB is detectable in blood for several hours after ingestion, and in urine for perhaps 24 hours or less. Ketamine is detectable in urine for as long as four days.

20. Go see a doctor
get checked out, make a police report. That way if this happens to somebody else at that bar (and it probably will) they can start looking at a pattern and seeing who interacted with both of you.

Also it'd be useful to get checked out and make sure that's what happened to you and not some exotic illness or brain injury or something.

25. Be sure to have a thorough check up from your doctor.
Just on the off chance it is something else.

I'm going to e-mail the kids, including the boy child. I've talked to the girl child about this, but reinforcing is always a good thing. And, my son, it hasn't occurred to me. He was in Europe with friends traveling on a small budget, so he is somewhat aware, but he is cute and quiet and very nice. The college boys need a heads up. I don't think that is on his radar at all. He is too young to go to bars, just parties, but no one can be too careful these days.

I'm glad you are OK. Just get checked out. :)

You got your drink tapped. Back in the 60's and 70's that was a no no. Anyone caught doing something like that got beaten bad. Who ever shepherded you to your car is suspect.

31. I had been hanging with a few guys,
but I lost them in the crowd that started coming in after the game. That's when I got sick and made a beeline for the door. I didn't stick around to feel any worse, so made it to my car without any help. But if I'd waited even a minute or two longer - no way.

32. A similar thing happened to a very good friend of mine - lasted about 4
hours. She was at a wedding reception. Had a few glasses of wine - not unusual. She went to the dance floor, left her drink, came back and finished it. About 20 min later she began to feel a little queasy and went to the restroom. She woke up on the floor of the bathroom stall about 4 hours later. Lights out. Reception hall locked up. All friends were gone. They had gone searching for her several times, but the stall doors in the bathroom were floor to ceiling. So, they had gone to the bathroom several times calling out for her. When they didn't get a response, they all believed she had left with other friends - after all - we knew nearly everyone at the reception.

Although she enjoys a good bit of wine, I have known her for 15 years and have never once heard of any incident where she passed out in public or became nearly intoxicated enough. She also had a large lump on her forehead from hitting the ground or toilet when she passed out.

She set off all the alarms at the country club when she left and ran about a mile to the nearest gas station where she called her now husband to pick her up.

To this day we have no idea who drugged her, but neither of us have any doubts that it happened. Sounds somewhat similar to what happened to you.

37. Yes, I could have seen that happen.
I think the only thing that kept me from passing out on the way to the car was that it was raining lightly, and the water on my face felt so nice and refreshing - it helped me keep my head on. But if I'd gone to the bathroom or sat down - I'm sure I'd have been on the floor unconcious in no time.

I'll echo all the others here saying you should probably go see a doctor, but what you describe sounds mighty suspicious to me.

I think there is a special place in Hell reserved for people who slip drugs into others' drinks. Fucking evil, pathetic sub-humans.

34. Oh wow! I had a very similar experience last year.
I was at a bar with a friend and had only had about three drinks (in as many hours,) when VERY suddenly, I felt really dizzy and the blood rushed out of my limbs and face and I had to bend down to keep from passing out. I could barely walk out of the bar- everything kept fading in and out and I was kind of in shock. I made my friend take me home right away and she was totally confused as to how I got so "drunk" so suddenly. I didn't FEEL "drunk," though. The wierd thing was I never did walk away from my drink. I thought it was just me-- that I didn't have enough in my stomach or something. Maybe not. :scared: I'm glad you're okay!

Party at the local club.. 500+ people there. I left my beer with someone that I knew.. but he's not the best person to be around either. Always hit on me, nasty type of guy.

Came back.. finished up my beer.. started feeling weak in my knees.. sick to my stomach etc.. Went home and slept for 12 hours straight. Dont remember NOTHING in that time frame.

So now I know whenever I leave my drink unattended, dont touch it. That was very scary.

that it depended on whether it was something fat soluble or water soluble. Evidently fat soluble things stay in your system longer. Water soluble stuff disappears in 24 hours or so.
