3. I should have separated "Card Sharks" |
|
To the original 1979 version with the guy with the long microphone (forgot his name but he ruled as MC)
and
the 1988 Bob Eubanks version, where he proved what a lifeless sort of host he was and that not all remakes/revivals look better than the originals... :D (He insulted a contestant's sense of humor too...)

...and STOP -- at a whammy!
(wheeeeee-uuuuuuuh)
Think of the possibilities if they brought it back (not the cheesy Game Show Channel version):
The Whammy crashing a Segway
The Whammy crushed by the Killer Pretzel
A masked Whammy running away with a ballot box; he trips and falls, and the box flies open and spills out dozens of ballots marked "Gore"
Yikes! One more whammy and I'm out of the game! :-)

13. The new version makes the identical mistake too... |

I picked up the repeating pattern rather quickly, even if the tv monitors are NOT placed in a square formation... :D

Yeah, I am old, but in my family Jeopardy has always been a staple.

24. Lots of classic game shows weren't mentioned |
|
Edited on Thu Nov-20-03 12:17 AM by Art_from_Ark
Of course, there's Jeopardy! (with Art Fleming), which has been mentioned already. Some of my favorites when I was a kid included Treasure Island (newlyweds hunting for prize vouchers on the beach in Palm Beach), Let's Make a Deal with Monty Hall (can you imagine trading 1000 dollars for a goat?), Sale of the Century (use your winnings to "buy" prizes), and the Who, What or Where Game.
Then there was Eye Guess, which was a memory game where contestants tried to remember the location of sets of prize blocks on a board. Prizes could be anything from a new car to a "bent cent". When a pair of prize blocks was successfully matched, they would be turned around to show parts of a rebus that would represent some famous saying. Once, some guy from Pittsburg, Kansas was on the game and matched up everything on the first try. The TV station I was watching it on was KOAM in Pittsburg, so it was pretty exciting watching a "local" guy make it big on a national game show.

From what you listed, I went with "Match Game." But you really could've offered more choices, my friend!
