2. We definitely have an effect on things.

Sometimes good, sometimes bad. Like when people go around saying things like "I Hope the Bloodshed in Iraq Continues," typically that ends up being bad for Democrats. However, I also think a lot of really good analysis and ideas come out of DU- in particular I think our Democratic leaders need to keep an eye on us to make sure they're not doing anything to alienate their base (after all, we're the ones who are politically active).
