Sweet dreams, Nighthawks. I've work to do for a while. I leave you with the lyrics to the song I'm listening to over and over this morning:
"In Your Time," words and music by Bob Seger
In your time The innocence will fall away In your time The mission bells will toll All along The corridors and river beds There’ll be sign In your time
Towering waves Will crash across your southern capes Massive storms Will reach your eastern shores Fields of green
Will tumble through your summer days By design In your time
Feel the wind And set yourself the bolder course Keep your heart As open as a shrine You’ll sail the perfect line
And after all The dead ends and the lessons learned After all The stars have turned to stone There’ll be peace Across the great unbroken void All benign In your time You’ll be fine In your time

You tell me there's an angel in your tree Did he say he'd come to call on me For things are getting desperate in our home Living in the parish of the restless folks I know
Everybody now bring your family down to the riverside Look to the east to see where the fat stock hide Behind four walls of stone the rich man sleeps It's time we put the flame torch to their keep
Burn down the mission If we're gonna stay alive Watch the black smoke fly to heaven See the red flame light the sky
Burn down the mission Burn it down to stay alive It's our only chance of living Take all you need to live inside
Deep in the woods the squirrels are out today My wife cried when they came to take me away But what more could I do just to keep her warm Than burn burn burn burn down the mission walls

6. This is what Call Me Wesley and I call "our song": |
|
Into the Mystic," by Van Morrison
We were born before the wind Also younger than the sun Ere the bonnie boat was won as we sailed into the mystic Hark, now hear the sailors cry Smell the sea and feel the sky Let your soul and spirit fly into the mystic
And when that fog horn blows I will be coming home And when that fog horn blows I want to hear it I don’t have to fear it I want to rock your gypsy soul Just like way back in the days of old Then magnificently we will float into the mystic And when that fog horn blows you know I will be coming home And when thst fog horn whistle blows I got to hear it I don’t have to fear it I want to rock your gypsy soul Just like way back in the days of old And together we will float into the mystic Come on girl...

9. Bob Seger is a tradition and a treasure here in Michigan. |
|
My favorite is still his segue from Travelin Man to Beautiful loser. Not his best songs, but a man on top of his game with magic.

Best on the road song ever. Jackson Brown's Stay is good, but Turn The Page says so much about his days before he made any real money. He used to play at sock hops in Walled Lake in the 60's Edit for forgot to hit shift.

Words and music by bob seger
Took a look down a westbound road, Right away I made my choice Headed out to my big two-wheeler, I was tired of my own voice Took a bead on the northern plains And just rolled that power on
Twelve hours out of mackinaw city Stopped in a bar to have a brew Met a girl and we had a few drinks And I told her what I’d decided to do She looked out the window a long long moment Then she looked into my eyes She didn’t have to say a thing, I knew what she was thinkin’
Roll, roll me away, Won’t you roll me away tonight I too am lost, I feel double-crossed And I’m sick of what’s wrong and what’s right We never even said a word, We just walked out and got on that bike And we rolled And we rolled clean out of sight
We rolled across the high plains Deep into the mountains Felt so good to me Finally feelin’ free
Somewhere along a high road The air began to turn cold She said she missed her home I headed on alone
Stood alone on a mountain top, Starin’ out at the great divide I could go east, I could go west, It was all up to me to decide Just then I saw a young hawk flyin’ And my soul began to rise And pretty soon My heart was singin’
Roll, roll me away, I’m gonna roll me away tonight Gotta keep rollin, gotta keep ridin’, Keep searchin’ till I find what’s right And as the sunset faded I spoke to the faintest first starlight And I said next time Next time We’ll get it right
On edit, I know that Rusty Dennis wanted Bruce Springsteen's Thunder Road in the movie about Rocky Dennis, because he was a Bruce fan, but when Bruce demanded too much money Bob didn't. At the time they were about equal in popularity.

What beautiful lyrics these are...
I can especially identify with the ones you've underlined.....
They speak to me, and I think you know why.
For I have done that, here, in the Lounge.....
Thank you
Hope your work is going well today......

I know you've done that, here, in the Lounge. I especially love the line "set yourself a bolder course." It doesn't hurt any of us to set a bolder course for ourselves, once in a while. ;)
It's been a good day, and it'll be a good evening, too, because it's Call Me Wesley's night to cook.
