I had another OBE yesterday, kool
Naysayers say want you want.

I was laying in bed not wanting to wake up and felt it begining. I did the usual "flip" and was out. I morphed through the walls and went out to the yard to this tree that I am worried about. It is big and is gonna take out my garage unless I take it down. I willed my self up and down the tree checking it out. Then morphed back throught the walls to my bedroom. "flipped" and wasback in my body. I have had these situations happen all my life and believe it.

Discuss, flame or whatever

1. I believe you ...
I have had them since I was 3 . Freaky . But " wow " at the same time . Everytime I am alone working on my music , I always feel someone standing beside me . Sometimes when I wake up I see someone sitting beside me on my bed .

2. I've always been interested in OBE phenomena
There are two major schools of thought here...one states that the OBE is a state of sleep paralysis combined with REM type sleep. The instances of OBE seem very real, but in fact are an intense dream state. The other school says that there is an essence or soul that can detach from the body and this consciousness can move about.

A number of inconclusive experiements have been conducted, so there is really no clear scientific explanation yet. There are a number of documented near death experiences that seem to mimic OBEs in a way.

While in OBE state, can you focus your thoughts on a certain subject and project yourself to that subject? If so, I'd love to do a little DU experiment since you seem to have these easily. One of the problems with OBE experimentation is that many subjects can't detach easily. It sounds like you can.

Thanks for sharing. I find OBE activity to be fascinating.

13. Only had 2 OBEs
and they definitely are NOT dreams. I was just as conscious during the OBE as I am now.

3. Sometimes this can be part of 'sleep paralysis'

which is pretty freaky.

Lots written on the subject including training oneself to duplicate the 'morphing' as a waking state trance. US military did lots of 'remote viewing' of hostile enemy sites in the 70s and 80s using this method. Apparently a technique proven to be a lot more successful than recent British intelligence gathering that thought it found WMDs and yellow cake uranium, hehe.

Alistair Crowley wrote a lot about this stuff, but stopped being able to duplicate it when his opiate addiction took a stranglehold. An author called Douglas Baker writes and lectures on the subject.

BTW: it's to do with frontal lobe activity. Electrical impulses reacting to endorphins I think

4. That sounds cool
I wish I could do them at will. Only accomplished that once. Lying on a couch when I was extremely sleepy, I kept telling myself I would "astral project." I woke up on the floor across the room, looked around, saw myself sleeping on the couch and got scared. In no time, I was awake on the couch again.
I lucid dream easily and always decide to fly in such dreams. I could probably do OOBEs if I didn't get so damned scared. Have you read Muldoon&Carrington or Robert Monroe?

10. Monroe even described having "astral sex"
Though Muldoon thought that such feelings would abort the experience. Despite such Victorian inhibitions, Muldoon's descriptions are somewhat hypnotic and a reading of "Projection of the Astral Body" is a good way to instigate the experience when you'd like to. Another interesting early work is "Phantasms of the Living" but I forget the author.

5. I have had them & I think my dog does too.
If my dog is in the room with me when it happens he will growl & wake me up. I have also felt him next to me on the bed when his physical body is on the floor next to the bed.

7. I cant control when it happens, only what happens when it occurs
It used to scare the heebie-jeebies out of me as a kid. But I have gotten used to it now. When I feel it begining I just try and let it happen. The hardest part is the "flip" after that it is a piece of cake.

BTW-I love the flying part. The tuck and free for all for thousands of feet is the best ride I have ever had.

9. No feline anesthisia for me
That is Sebastian Cattbutt's deal. He usually sits in the corner with a little mirror, a razor blade and a kitty straw.

11. What does the tree say about your plans to take it down?
It may well have summoned you.
