Appropriate gift for an infant's Baptism (Catholic ceremony) |
|
And we're invited to the reception afterwards, so I'm guessing it's gift time ? I have no idea what kind. Thanks for your help!

1. a savings bond is always a good gift |
|
It will be fully matured by the time the kid wants to buy a car or go to college. I bought my first car with the bonds I had saved up.

3. At my kids baptisms we took all the money and put it into a |
|
college ira fund for them. Even if they DONT go to college they get the money once they turn 18. My sons baptism is this month so any money given will be put into a fund for him as well.

4. For a baby a savings bond or something is always a good gift |
|
Edited on Sat Nov-12-05 05:30 PM by LeftyMom
Not a huge amount, $50 or so for a cousin or something, a little more for a closer relative if you can swing it.
If it's just a coworker's baby or something where money isn't really appropriate I'd just give a nice little outfit maybe with a few extra coordinating peices (The Children's Place is my favorite store for that sort of thing and thier prices are reasonable. Edit: Babystyle has nice baby stuff too if you prefer to order online.)

8. Great Suggestions!!!!!!!!!!!! |
|
Thank you all so much!!! Can always count on the Lounge for the best ideas, and yes, the Godfather crossed my mind too!
As the baby is a neighbor's grandchild, and we don't know the parents, I'll probably visit the local Heaven and Earth store and look for a Christmas ornament with a nice Christian Peace-Love-Joy message, or a picture frame.
Again, thanks guys for your input, and I'm all set for future invitations for such events :hi:
