5. I am, but they may not cover this ..
It's so stupid - I have a 97 Cavalier, there are WAY better cars in that lot than mine. That stereo they took was a low-cost Pioneer model 3 years ago.

I don't really care about the stereo so much . . . I'm more pissed off that they stole the CDs, which were worth WAY more than that stereo was. First of all, you cannot be fiending for crack THAT bad that you need to take CDs that are in a wallet. You can't trade the sumbitches in, they have no case. Second, what the hell interest would ANY crackhead have with those CDs? Imported Italian prog? Sludge metal? The Calm? COME on.

6. Watch for them on e-bay
I see CD collections I suspect are stolen all the time on e-bay.

That sucks.

I hope your insurance will cut you a check so you can regain your library. I'd be devastated. Music is the air I breathe.

20. I had the same thing happen....
Same idea... eclectic music mix, little resale value, and they took the faceplate from my stereo. Fat lot of good the buttons are going to do you, assholes.

I'm sorry, it sucks so bad. If you have homeowners or renter's insurance, they may cover the CD value.

25. That sucks.
I had my CD wallet stolen out of my car about 4 or 5 years ago. There were 30+ CDs in there. I still haven't replaced them all yet.

26. Est cost - about $450.
This will have to be done over time, unfortunately. And that's not counting two box sets which are now ruined because of this cracktard theft.

3. That's why I have a removable plate for my system
I live in an area where I know they'll steal my stero & CDs if left in the car. (in fact they did). Hence - I never leave that stuff in there again.

Although I was in total shock, I left my purse & wallet in the car for some bizarre reason last night but fortunately they were hidden out of site!

4. And the one time I decide to leave the damn thing on . . .
It was 6 AM and I just left, not caring that I've parked here for years and nothing's happened to it. Well, going to be taking suburban busses from now on.

8. Feel for you, dude
especially losing the cd's.It's a lot easier to replace the stereo. Doesn't it piss you off that the scumbags that did this have no idea how hard people work for the money to buy these things?

12. I don't even get why they STOLE them!
There isn't ANYthing in there that anybody but me and like, a few hundred others would want. They can't even trade them, they most likely don't have access to computers to re-sell them and unless you play them, you won't be able to tell what the hell they are by looking at them. They're most likely in a garbage can somewhere in Cleveland.

Now I found out that I'm not covered on the window (driver's side back), so now it's time to go to a dealer (since it has a paint-around piece to it) and get assraped.

"Gee, why can you never get ahead in life?" THIS IS WHY!

14. Anything irreplaceable taken?
When thieves broke into my car years back, they took a tape I had made of my son one night. He was 2 and it was a typical night.... doing out before bath ritual. We were singing songs together, and I was tickling him, and he was telling me he loves me. I'd say "time to get your jammies on" and he'd say "Jeopardy?"

I used to play that one when I got stuck in traffic. It always kept me calm.

That's one you can replace at the local music store. I wanted to kick some butt when they took that one.

21. Lots of "hard to replaces"
Some of those were imports, one was a limited edition metal CD, three came from box sets. The rest are easy and in print, but are still going to take a while to fully get back.

The holder is probably lying in a garbage can somewhere when they opened it and realized I didn't have a DAMNED thing they liked, or can even be resold to other crack fiends on the street.

No more stereos, only portables. Not putting up with this shit again.

15. I can top that!
When I was younger, my boyfriend's convertible was "broken into" (someone cut through the top) while we were swimming in Lake Michigan. They took the stereo (expensive one) and all of this tapes.
I also happened to have all my tapes in the car, and they only took ONE of them.
This created much hilarity on the part of my boyfriend, who didn't like to listen to the groups I did!

It's happened to me twice, and both times the window was smashed out. It's a terrible sick feeling. You feel like your car has been violated.

Sounds like you had some unique stuff that would be easy to identify.

The damage caused by the theft was way more costly than the stupid stereo and tapes! I'm empathizing with you.

Damn thieves.

But seriously, I feel your pain, man...

Someone broke into my house in the late 70's and stole my comic book collections which included a copy of Spiderman Number 1....

In Westlake...

Not that valuable then....

But now....

23. It happened at the W 117th and Madison RTA train stop.
Edited on Tue Nov-15-05 03:34 PM by HughBeaumont
In broad daylight.

Next to a construction site.

In a non-sparsely populated train/bus stop.

Across from a Burger King and a Subway. And a bar.

And of course, the See-No-Evil, Hear-no-evil bastards over yonder heard no glass breaking, no "Let's Roll", no peeling out, no NONE of that shit.

You would THINK that Avon Lake is hardly a gangsta thug haven, but I guess there's lots of drug activity up at the ALPS playground area . . . where my stepson plays.

Ooooof on the Spiderman #1. That's worth, what, in the high triple/low quadruple digits by now?
