Somebody forgot the first rule of Fight Club: Do not talk about Fight Club.

Do not promote Fight Club. Do not build a Web site with scheduled bouts and videos of Fight Club. And do not — do not! — let Austin park police find out about Fight Club.

Many Westlake High School students learned that lesson Saturday afternoon, after Park Police officers launched a sting operation to halt an unlicensed boxing match in the Old Pistol Range section of Zilker Park, just west of MoPac Boulevard (Loop 1) off Rollingwood Drive.

Westlake and Rollingwood police joined the Austin officers in detaining about 150 people, including Westlake High students and adults, one of whom identified himself as a Westlake parent.
