I am sitting here simmering with jealousy...
I just found out that my ex-husband's current wife(a great woman, btw)is en route with her sister to join the protests tomorrow in London. I should be happy that two more Americans are headed over there...so why am I not happy??:)

1. Easy, Siobhan.
You want to be there. Even though it is not Ireland.

3. I feel your pain
As my husband and I listened to NPR on the drive home today and they were reporting on the various methods of protest, we said to each other that we'd LOVE to be in London right now. The British excel at mocking.

5. Probably for the same reason that
I'm royally fucking pissed that another moderator application was rejected, and that some of those chosen have a lot less posts, haven't been here as long, and aren't on DU as much as I am. I won't bother them again, that's for sure.

6. Because...
He's probably banging his wife AND her sister like a couple of tight bodhrans while you chit-chat on DU.

You should be upset, then you can get over it.

7. Who are you? You're certainly making a splash with your attitude
here on DU. That is no way to win friends and influence people.

9. I am right, though
Assume the worst and move on. He's having fun, you're worrying. That's nonsense!

You should be thinking of how you can take advantage of the situation. Visualize all the bad things about your relationship with him (these things were copious and you know it), visualize all the bad things about her (forgot that crap about her being great...bullshit), and take advantage of your newfound freedom.

This is a good time!

10. recalling protests over the last few years
I like this thread because it shows what a long way we've come. I agree this is the protest event of the season. Furthermore, bush's visit is, as many political columnists and astrologers have observed, a "defining moment." Being at this one would be watching history in the making.

Back in the beginning of the bush pResidency, there were so few of us out there with our signs. There were even articles in the papers lamenting the end of protests. They said there would never be large protests like we had with the VietNam war because now people could pour out their frustrations on the Internet. So why go protest in person? Nope, the days of protesting were over, or so the conventional wisdom went.

That, quite fortunately, turned out to be false. Each protest is larger and louder and more imaginative than the last. How I wish I could be in England, recapturing that feeling I had during the Inaugural protest when it felt so good, just so, so very good, to yell, "Imposter! Thief!"

Cher
