Gameshow leaves 'Hungry' Russians stranded

A reality TV show has left 12 young Russian's to fend for themselves in Berlin with no language skills, food or money.

Almost two weeks ago, the contestants, six men and six women, were deposited in a container and forced to survive, reports the Times.

They are being featured on a new Russian reality TV show called Golad, which means Hunger.

After the first three weeks, the audience votes to eliminate one person each week until just the winner remains, having - in the words of the show's website - survived 100 days without food or money.

1. For Russian television...

... this is a quality show. I once saw a programme called "Dorozhny Patrul" (Road Patrol). It was basically a TV crew filming the aftermath of fatal road or industrial accidents. No holds barred. There was one memorable scene where a section of concrete bridge collapsed on two welders. They carried on filming while cranes lifted the section off these two poor sods, exposing their flattened corpses.

But I don't quite understand the logic of it. If you want to see homeless and hungry people in Russia, you just have to step outside your door.

Still, like most reality TV shows, they are cheap to make, and anything but reality. They edit them until there is nothing left of reality.
