The Happy Faces of Failure I'm like so glad I wrote Cherie shortly after *'s first visit to Europe ... when part of his things to do was to try and grease the skids for GE's takeover of Honeywell (the EU said "NO") ... and GE retained Cherie as a lawyer to continue the lobbying ... I was appalled and let her know it. She simply had her secretary send a note acknowledging receipt.

Dear Ms. Blair
I feel compelled to express my dissent, disappointment and disapproval of Ms. Cherie Booth Blair being retained by one of the world's most powerful corporations, GE, to continue its push to own Honeywell despite the EU's "no". This is really a battle about sovereignty, isn‘t it; and, no one speaks for the people?
It makes one wonder if there is any ethics, integrity, if any hope, for the non-corporate world, i.e., people before profits.
Immediately upon hearing the EU’s historic and brave decision, I emailed a compliment for the decision. I thought the EU decision sent a clear message to multi-nationals that things in the 21st century will be dealt with from a different perspective.
When America’s illegitimate appointed “president” speaks of “the first war of the 21st century”, it doesn’t exactly motivate the human spirit, does it? Of course, with that mindset, why not join the corporatism of the world. It’s all about money.
I feel the world and its leaders have gone off the Tyne forth and Cramity, remindful of the blur song, “This is a Low” from the Parklife LP.

General Electric Co. lost the first skirmish when the European Union blocked its bid for Honeywell International. But the company is still pulling out the big guns. Among the international cast of lawyers listed on the appeal filed by GE last month is Cherie Booth, wife of British Prime Minister Tony Blair, according to people who have seen it. Booth, while highly respected, is not known as an antitrust lawyer. She made her reputation in employment law, even taking her husband's government to court over the issue of parental leave. Last year she joined a new firm, Matrix, which specializes in human rights.
Her secretary said Booth could not comment due to client confidentiality. A GE spokeswoman did not immediately return a request for comment Wednesday. During its last attempt to have the merger approved, GE hired Stuart Eizenstat, a former U.S. ambassador to the EU and top Clinton administration official, to lobby on its behalf. The European Commission issued a decision blocking the merger on July 3.
Along with Booth, GE listed seven other prominent lawyers, backed by three separate law firms, on its appeal.
