Stoops headed to Arizona
The talk around Oklahoma is that Mike Stoops(co-defensive coordinator)
is headed to Arizona. Might be offered the job as early as next week. As a Sooner fan, this is not the kind of news I want to hear since OU has the Big 12 champsionship game coming up and potentially the national champsionship game still to play. Even though Bob Stoops says he could take over some of Mike's duties on defense, it is still bound to have some effect.

Most people knew that it was just a matter of time before M. Stoops got an offer, but it never seems to come at a good time. That being said, everyone wishes him the best and knows that he will do a great job as a head coach.

1. Ahh...I think you guy's will be OK.
But Bob Stoops should move heaven and earth to keep Brent Venables from leaving, perhaps as Mike's Coordinator. :D

3. I hope you're right
However, not having him around for the next few games does raise some concern. As far as Venables is concerned, I don't see him leaving OU unless it is for a head coach position(which will probably happen within the next few years). Chuck Long is also head coaching material and probably will be getting offers in the near future. However, Bob Stoops has been able to come up with some good replacements for the coaches that have left in the past(Leach and Mangino). It should be interesting.

OU damn sure doesn't want to lose Bob Stoops. To keep him, that's when heaven and earth will be moved.

GOP...who does A&M play this weekend?

7. lol....well, best of luck on the 29th...
I hope Fran can get it going, at least for next year. I was really surprised at the drop off this year....thought he would do a better job. He seems like a good coach, but, this season really surprised me.

To change the subject....since you live in Austin, have you ever seen Monte Montgomery perform at one of the clubs in town? If not, I would really reccommend going to one of his shows. I have seen him two or three times and he's a great guitar player.

8. I've seen tons of bands, but I've never seen Monte.
I hear good things about him, though. I'll have to check him out.

I'm a little shocked at the team's downfall too. However, I think we had two or three guys drafted off the defense in the first round. That combined with the change in philosophy means we aren't as sound on defense as we used to be. I think Fran will turn things around eventually; he has in other places.

5. Vermont...I thought I might hear from you on this post...LOL
I didn't think you would like to hear this. I'm not real familar with Arizona, however, I would imagine they will be pretty damn competivite in the future. At the very least have a good defense.

6. I wish ASU would bring bad Bruce Snyder
Dirk Koetter doesn't know how to coach Pac-10 football, he was obviously a good coach for Boise State at the WAC.

9. I haven't kept up with ASU
but I do know Pac 10 plays wide open offense. If a team can't throw it well and play strong pass defense(Mike Stoops strength) then teams will struggle in that conference. USC seems to be playing really well this year....are they really that good? I know they have a great QB, but, not sure about the rest of the team.

11. About USC
They have a very strong offense, they have very good NFL-like wide recievers Keary Colbert and Mike Williams, they also have a solid Freshman runningback Reggie Bush. Their defense is not very strong against the run, Echemandu from Cal ran all around and through the USC defense for over 140 yards, USC has Oregon State next week and I smell an upset. Steven Jackson is a democrat who happen to lead the Pac-10 in rushing the last two years. That will be a major test for that defense, if Derek Anderson plays sloopy USC will in no doubt of my mind will win. But if Derek Anderson plays solid it will be close one.

12. USC and Oregon State sounds like it could be a good game...
I need to start paying attention to them since OU might play them in the NC game.
