Poll question: What December holiday will you celebrate?
There are many holidays in December, which one is yours?

For fun, post which one isn't yours but you'd be curious to take part in.

I can still see Georges dad getting excited about reviving this tradition.

Festivus - the Holiday for the rest of us.

3. Several. Christmas (sorta - a non-religious celebration).
Then, three of my close friends have birthdays in December, so we always gather and have a party to exchange gifts for Christmas and their birthdays.

But, for the most part, December is just a month with more holidays than usual. :D

6. All of them
I love holidays. I have friends of every faith (and no faith) and I do my best to throw myself into all the holidays with heart and soul. I figure it says something about us humans that we have all these holidays for so many faiths all around the winter solstice. So even though I personally don't ascribe to a particular belief I still find joy and light in participating with my friends.

7. Jan. 2... the END of the friggin' holiday season
I used to absolutely LOVE Christmas and the entire season. But now it's a gigantic struggle to keep my mother in law and assorted other in-laws from driving us (my wife and I) off the deep end.

Am I the only one doing Hanukkah?
Man, you haven't lived until you have 3 menorahs with 9 candles each going. It sets off the smoke alarms in my apartment.

Guess what! They don't do that in the winter in the hills around Bethlehem. Guess Christmas is out 'cuz it didn't happen in winter.

22. The Christmas crunch starts on November 30
when my choir gives its Advent Evensong, followed by regular Evensongs every Sunday afternoon, plus Lessons and Carols just before Christmas, plus Christmas Eve and Christmas Day.

But for me, now that I'm grown up and no longer driven crazy by presets, the music, especially the medieval and Renaissance motets and the folk carols, is the best part of Christmas anyway.

By the way, I may be in a minority, but I strongly dislike Silent Night and Away in a Manger.

As for other holidays, whne I was a kid, I thought it would be cool to celebrate Chanukah and be guaranteed eight presents. As a language buff, I also liked the look of Hebrew letters.
