Poll question: Would You Quit Your Job If You Could Get Another One In Politics?
If someone called you and said they'd like to offer you a job doing ______________ for some political organization or even a politician, what would you do?

Would you decline it because you already have a stable job?

Would you accept it because true happiness comes from doing what you love - and obviously we all love politics.

What would you do?

(oh, and assume for a moment the political job is with a left-leaning organization or politician)

1. My first question would have to be...
How much does it pay? If it's good money, I would seriously consider it. If I can't make my house payment with it, I'd have to pass.

9. Political jobs? Good money?
Perhaps in a hypothetical scenario. In real life, however...

3. Know where there are any good jobs like that?
I would probably take a 10% paycut from what I make now if I could.

4. I have a Masters in Political Communications...
an a BA in Sociology, and I STILL wouldn't do a job in politics.
I would feel too dirty afterwards.

I know, you are going to ask, why did you get the degree in the first place?

I'd like to teach the two subjects and then do my other dream job of voice-over work for cartoons.

6. people do grow out of their first jobs...
I know many engineers that went on to work as artists...
and I know many philosophy majors that went on to work as software engineers after they returned to school....

If you live to be 85 for example....that is a lot of time doing the same thing....sometimes a little change helps make life interesting...

12. the toons beckon....
My husband is studying to be an animator. We are going to produce our own cartoon. We hope to get it on the air. I hope that my voice work career springs off from that point. Plus, I'll be an executive producer and writer on a cartoon. How cool is that?

7. It would be easy for me
Besides a number of problems with the business I work for, I have not considered it really meaningful work even if it would be with a good company. Politics would be one of the most meaningful things I could do as a job. Of course if this was a short term, until the election is over sorts of things, I might not take it. I am the primary bread winner in my family right now.

11. Absolutely, if the circumstances were right.
If the job paid as much or more than I'm making now and I wouldn't have to cut my hair I'd do it. This construction shit beats the hell out of your body.

14. Probably not
I work for a left-leaning charity, but I would leave for the right job working for the right candidate.

18. A warning here
I worked in a political job, changed my life and moved to another state for one, working for a nonprofit. It turned out to be a disaster.

Here is the one warning: the job, unless you are well connected, will pay dirt--you may not be paid at all, and the working conditions will very well suck.
