Brrrr... the heating unit in my room just went out.
Would it be rude for me to call maintenance right now? It's 4 a.m. :scared:

2. True. But...
This is where old people live. Any call made after 10 pm, they presume someone is dying.

I can hold out until, oh, 50 degrees or so.

3. You can cuddle with your cats. That should help.
What is the outside temperature?

4. My cats are 200 miles away.
I'm at my parent's apartment.

I have no idea about the temp. This is an alien computer.

I'm sorry you're cat-less.

Do you have candles that you can light?

11. Make some hot cocoa and add another layer of clothes.
How many windows are in your home? The inside temperature will drop quicker if there aren't any curtains.

16. I'm sorry. I didn't realize you weren't home alone.
I know how difficult it is to avoid waking others in the house because I'm usually up for hours before anyone else.

18. I have to remind myself there are others here.
When you live alone as long as I have, you don't realize how your habits affect others.

15. I would send you some warm sunshine ...
but I don't know how to push it through the modem.

How about adding a hot bath to that hot chocolate?

Oh, the answer to your question is NO -- it would not be rude to all mainenance right now.

17. Awww... that's really sweet!
!!! A hot bath! Of course!

This apartment has a huge tub in it. And I brought some bubblebath with me (it's called "frosted snowflake," but it smells yummy!)

Thanks for a great idea!

:loveya: I LOVE kitties! Thank you for posting them. :loveya:

Oreo and Binky look like they might be up to something. :loveya:

It was cool here (70's) yesterday and my wimpy FL cats couldn't take it. So Satchmo decided to take a nap on my warm laptop keyboard. I got a pic of it ... will upload it one day. He started 12 new email messages, decided to create a shortcut, got Microsoft Money to offer him a later version, and changed my Scroll Lock so I couldn't tab between cells on Excel.

Today is even cooler (50's so far), but I guess they grew some fur overnight. They're all on the patio waiting for lizards to play with. :)

21. No, I think I should wait until 8 am.
But I'm afraid to go asleep. :scared:

I turned the heat up in the living room - it's drifting in here. But the heating unit is making a horrible moan (and not in the good way). I turned it off, so it must be the wind from outside.

Happy T'day, Maddy!
Did you ever get that turkey stuffed, or are you going to let it stuff itself?

25. I made dressing. which isn't stuffed in the bird.
It's baked in the pan. Lemme tell ya what all I cooked last night:

Two pans of cornbread dressing
Two pans of broccoli casserole
A big pan of sweet potato caserole
A pot of baby butterbeans
A banana pudding

I have the turkey brining, the rolls baking, and the cranberry jelly stuff chillin'.

Who are you eating lunch with today?

:hi:

27. Oh, about 30 Seniors and their families.
This apartment complex offers a family thanksgiving for all the residents. It's a neat thing, since so many here are unable to travel anymore. That's why my brother & kids came out, too.

Mmmmm... can I have some of that banana pudding? That's one of the things I miss about the south - that, and sweet tea.

29. That sounds really nice, Rev.
I'm just having dinner with my son and my brother. I froze half of what I fixed, so that I can pull it out for Christmas and not have to cook so much.

I love banana pudding. It reminds me of my grandmother who passed away in April--every holiday, she always had a huge dish of banana pudding sitting on the table. I use her recipe when I make it. :)

31. Hello, Merh!
No, heat is off (but just here in the office - which doubles as my bedroom). Dad put a notice in the office, but I don't think he realizes how cold it got in here. I'm re-thinking today's ensemble.

Are you with family today? Give Winston some extra Milkbones, and tell him the Cheese says "Hi, good doggie!"

May visions of George dance in your head, keeping a smile on your face.

 :loveya:

32. Stop by some store & pick up an electric room heater.
I have an extra one I can send you.

That's what I use in my femanision, it is a little compact ceramic heater and it puts out some heat, let me tell ya. I don't use the furnace in the femansion, it makes all the alarms go off, including the carbon monoxide alarm. They are obnoxious. x(

I am going to be good for the holiday, I'll give Winston the treats and pass along your message. And I will most definitely keep that thought/image of GC in mind. :D That is a keeper. :P

Have a good one. :loveya:

35. Tell her you are going out to talk to someone in another
apartment. She will think that is boring. Then slip out - be sure to call first, make sure they have one and ask them to hang on to it for you if they will.

You never know how many other folks suffered your same dilemma and have gone to find warmth.

36. no, I didn't!
And I sincerely doubt it maintenance is going to show up.

I'm going to follow Merh's advice, and head to the dreaded Wally World. It's so damned un-American, shopping on Thanksgiving Day... so IF I have to go off the wagon, I'll do it at Sin City Central. That, and there's really nothing else open. :)

 Maybe I'll find some BRAZIL NUTS!!!! :9
