Every ChickenHawk who votes to sent our men and women to war should
be forced, at gunpoint if necessary, to play Call of Duty 2 all the way through on "Veteran" level.

Wow. Just wow. I'll describe the first part. You're a young Russian, and the Germans have invaded Stalingrad. It's -28 Celcius, and the facsists are pushing through YOUR city. While the loudspeakers go on about the benefits of surrendering, you know it's a lie. So what do you do?

You fight. And you fight hard, and you die. A lot. But you still get to fight once the game reloads to the last checkpoint. Still, the sheer intensity of fighting even in this GAME is something that EVERY LAST ONE OF THOSE COWARDS in CONGRESS should be forced, (I'll say it again at gun point) if necessary, to play. Because it's not about the game itself, it's about the spirit of defending your own country, and what any troop should be trained to expect when they INVADE a country. You take pride in your headshots, solely because they use less ammo. The single most important thing on my mind when I play isn't so much surviving, it's rushing that tank to place explosives before it kills the men around me who are getting slaughtered, or the MG42 machine gun nest, or the quickly built Nazi trenches. The game also instills a ruthlessness, you HAVE TO KILL THEM DEAD. Otherwise, they might turn over and shoot you in the back as they die.

These people who vote for war, then vote to give themselves raises, then go out for a steak dinner in a fine restaurant should AT LEAST get this experience, so they can AT LEAST have some sort of idea of the conditions they are sending some of our finest men and women into. No, it's not that cold in Iraq, but it is that brutal when you're going door to door. And in Stalingrad, at least you knew who your enemies are.

Yes, this could be construed as a rather odd rant, but this game at Veteran level is honestly far more realistic than any of my Marine MOUT "Mission Oriented Urban Terrian" ( or some such BS gubmint acronym) was. And that's a sad, sad thing.

2. pfft
First Person Shooters on console controls aren't even worth the effort.

My PC is running, as I type, at 29C Processor, 34C for motherboard. I think I'll be okay.

12. Screengrab
After the massacre of a train station

Those are all bodies on the ground, you can't see the piles of them on the stairs behind me, on the second floor, and out the windows where I shot them in the head.

3. Great idea!
Hold guns to the heads of senators and congresspersons and make them play video games.

Works for me! ;)

5. I love CoD but I've laid off the past couple of months.
Everytime I sat down at the computer to play, I'd glance at the clock and all of a sudden it was 4 AM. The game is amazing though. First time I played it was sensory overload. not to sound like an old man, but it's amazing what they can do with video games these days. I mean, it's no Asteroids but it's damn good.

6. It's a hell of thing
You've just blasted about 50 Germans, and one of them gets a lucky shot with a grenade and you're dead. Just that easy.

8. I'll have to check this out
How is the scenery? Is Stalingrad a reasonably faithful facsimile of the real city from WWII? Will I feel like Jude Law in Enemy at the Gates? (Historical inaccuracies aside.)

10. Yes
You'll even be called Vasily, and once you get a scoped weapon, you'll be doing a LOT of damage.

But that's not the point, the point is how fucking BRUTAL war is. And this, I think, is as close to it is as you can get without being there.

11. They should also be forced to live in military barracks and eat MREs
for the entire duration of the war, and be constrained by the same "leave time" rules as Privates. They should also be forced to divest themselves of all stocks, bonds, and investments of any kind for the duration of the war so that they can not profit from it. They should get a shower maybe once every few days, be forced to wear the same clothing they had on before they took the shower, and have random explosions constantly going off around them - even though they will never be in direct danger from the explosions, constantly listening to them and not being able to sleep well will still have a serious mental effect.

13. Also, their entire family - children and grandchildren,
whatever age (unless they're under 18, of course) should be immediately drafted and forced to the front lines - none of this "drafted but driving the base commander's pool cleaning truck in Oklahoma" bullshit.
