When I reach 50,000 posts (many, many months from now), I will be doing the Will Pitt thing.

By that I mean, I'm no longer going to hide behind a AKA. I will be posting under my real name.

Which, if you didn't know it, is SCOTT LOWERY.

You've got time to adjust to it ;-) and remember it.

It won't be for months now...but I'm tired of hiding. If anyone wants a piece of me, then well, I'm going to let them know who I am.

Part of it is that I'm going to start doing serious work/writing against the religious right. The only way to stand up to them is to STAND UP against them. And I'm going to do more writing and speaking in public on the matter...so...this "Silent Bob" is going public soon. I have until May to get my act together, so that's why I think 50,000 posts is a good number in which to make the switch.

23. It is really weird

I started out a natural pagan, but the older I get, and the more I actually study the Bible, the more Christian I become. I LOVE the religion. Jesus was progressive. His teachings have been co-opted, and I **&)*&)(*&)*&)*&) hate that.

But I recognize the validity of all relgions. I believe god speaks to each culture in the means and ways in which they will understand. Buddha is as important to me as Jesus.

because they need to be called onto the carpet. Many of the fundys are the most evil people out there, and that's a sad statement. I just commented in another post about Pat Robertson, wondering that if he truly believes in what he is preaching, he surely will go to hell; and I wonder if he ever thinks about that. Of course, I'm sure his (and their) thought process gives him (them) permission to be nasty, cruel and dangerous human beings.

Jesus Christ taught us to be loving and inclusive, they, however they tend to teach hatred/fear and exclusivity.

When are you going to have your articles printed? Have you begun writing? This is a subject I sincerely want to follow.

Net avatars are fun and a way of expressing something about yourself that you get to choose (as opposed to your real name which you're kinda stuck with). But ultimately Will and Scott are right - they can be a way to hide.
