To any and all who are alone today:
I am thinking of you. Whether you are by yourself, or alone in a room or house full of people, someone is thinking of you.

I hope you are happy.
I hope that you have had a chance to laugh today.
And I wish, that just for this moment,
the things which bring you pain will abate.

I hope that there is room in your heart to love.
One of the hardest lessons learned in life: that sex, while pleasureable, is not love; yet can be an expression of it. (Though many will deny this,) it is possible to live without sex... and damned near fatal to live without love.

I hope that a muse lies within your spirit, inspiring you to create. You have been given that special gift, which is intended to bring you to life. Do not let your inner being atrophy. Create. Express yourself. Come alive, and live - and find the meaning and purpose of today..

I am grateful that you have shared yourself with me, and honored to call you friend.

3. Thank you, my friend. I knew someone would post this, and I'm glad it was
you. I'm here, alone with two dogs and a recalcitrant cat, and I appreciate your sentiments. I could have gone a couple of places, but it just wasn't worth it to me. And my guys and I are happier, on our own. I'm holding out for my own Thanksgiving, since I do love to cook. I'm looking for another orphan...

Edited on Thu Nov-24-05 11:21 PM by DainBramaged
Been 6 years since I had a sit down "family" Thanksgiving dinner, 6 years. Holiday's are tough times, tougher still when your daughter brings you food from the relatives house you no longer talk to she had dinner at. This year I said no. Rice Chex and green tea. I will not be handed over leftovers ever again.

It can be very unpleasant when you feel alone in a room full of people.

Thank you for your wisdom and your warmth.

8. Thank you, Rev,
and a Happy Thanksgiving to you too. I shared a Thanksgiving meal with my cat, and his company was much more enjoyable than that of a relative who makes me feel unwelcome. Kitty got to have (almost) all the turkey he wanted to eat. :)

10. Hope you had a Happy TDay
and did not feel alone in a room full of people. Also hoping your let the brother live and are just getting even by corrupting his kids. I spent the day with 9 ferrets, 5 cats, 4 dogs and 2 birds so enjoying the quiet while I can.

I'll let you know if my RW brother will live after going out shopping Saturday for a &*#@%$%^ dress for his Black Tie wedding next weekend. Glad he found someone to make him happy and all but a little more than two weeks notice would of been nice if you are going to have a Black Tie wedding. Specially since I am a jeans and black t-shirt kind of person.

I am feeling good tonight, I spent the day with people I love, the food was good, the mood was warm and full of remembrance for those who've gone before and I look forward to tomorrow. Be good to yourselves all, pray for peace, work for justice and enjoy this crazy life, it goes by way fast.

I miss my family. Divorce, death and life have carried us in different directions and what I once took for granted is now gone forever. Thankfully, my partner and I will see my brother and sister-in-law for Christmas for a traditional meal and I look forward to it already.

 to you too, Shari! and Happy Thanksgiving!

25. What an incredible post, Rev.
This is the first year I spent completely alone for Thanksgiving, except for my sweetie puppy and a dog I'm babysitting. Everyone I know was together with their family or boyfriend or some such as that, and I thought it was terrific! I worked on some home improvement projects and then took the dogs for a hike in the mountains and enjoyed the scenery and just stood there, listening to the blessed silence and being thankful for the view.

The only thing I missed about T-day was pumpkin pie, and that's my own fault because I could have baked one if I'd thought about it in time.

As the day draws to a close, those of us on DU have one more thing to give thanks for: your kind and loving heart. :hi:

27. Thanks, Rev
I speak for many I'm sure when I say "I needed that."

:grouphug:

My day was bittersweet. But we ended the evening picking on the guitars before I had to hit the highway. The food was great and the company was bright but there are sorrows for those missing this year as well as concerns for some who are having rough times far away.

I'll add a little prayer (and you know I'm not even a praying sort these days, Rev;) See what you do????) for our soldiers and those people who are suffering anywhere.

30. Thank you Rev
You remind me of one of the ministers at my church. She's touched so many lives and has an aura of peace and calm about her. She's an advocate for the homeless and brought a new sense of community and awareness to this upper-middle class (them, not me!) congregation. Her last day as a deacon was the 20th and I miss her presence terribly.

You're a special soul Rev.

Thank you.
