So if I were to eat a grit - how would I do so? |
|
Would I serve it with honey? Salt? Steak sauce?

and it's called polenta when you eat it that way.
(But don't buy it if it's called polenta on the package--they'll charge you three times as much as they will for grits.)

Most folks put salt on grits; me, I like a bit o' sugar and maybe some cinnamon.
Cheese is popular too. And some folks use gravy.
Mmmm... grits. :9

A mess of grits... melt butter, cover liberally with salt and pepper.
OR melt cheddar in them.

10. There's good grits and there's bad grits |

The only grits I ever enjoyed were at Cracker Barrel, alas, and I rarely patronize those homophobic assholes. But if you can get to one, just order a small side of grits so you can see what they're supposed to taste like. They're damned good.

As you describe, grits are the shiznit! Exactly how I like 'em. Unfortunately I live in NYC, and grits aren't usually to be found at any breakfast place. More's the pity!
