1. It's up there with Glenn Campbell's "Like A Rhinestone Cowboy"

3. Best song ever ... what?
I mean, okay -- it would actually be a pretty good song if Wayne sang it while dangling from a strand of licorice, smeared with bacon fat and suspended over a pit of snapping alligators. So ... y'know. Everything's relative.

4. I nominated Wayne's "Daddy" song
for "Worst Song Ever" in a previous thread. Takes all kinds, I guess.

5. Close, but what about "The Night Chicago Died," or "Honey?"
So many great ones to choose from. Wayne's is right up there with the puketure of the last century though.

6. There's a worse one that 'Night Chicago Died.'
Terry Jacks -- "Seasons In The Sun." I writhe around like a salted slug every time I hear the opening chords. Terry Jacks now saves whales or something -- I'm glad. I've lived most of my life in horror that he'd write another wretched piece of crap like that one, and I'd have to listen to it.

8. Like choosing between death by fire and an acid bath
Yeah, "Seasons in the Sun" is another, alright. Thanks for reminding me. My revenge: Think about "Lovin You" by Minnie Ripperton. Sorry, I had to do it.

9. Old Letterman Joke
I remember him once saying, "I'm not sure that I'm doing everything that I can do, as an American, to prevent a reunion of The Cowsills"

Eternal vigilance, Dave. Eternal vigilance.

11. But they pale in comparison to Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods
"Billy, Don't Be a Hero".

That is some inspired writin' there....

10. The Lyric
The love between the two of us was dying
And it got so bad I knew I had to leave
But halfway down that highway when I turned around I saw
My little daughter running after me
Crying

Daddy, don't you walk so fast
Daddy, don't you walk so fast
Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run
Daddy, don't you walk so fast

Now, it broke my heart to tell my little daughter
That her daddy had to run to catch a train
She had no way of knowin' I was leavin' home for good
I turned around and there she was again
As she said to me

Daddy, don't you walk so fast
Daddy, don't you walk so fast
Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run
Daddy, don't you walk so fast

If only for the sake of my sweet daughter
I just had to turn back home right there and then
And try to start a new life with the mother of my child
I couldn't bear to hear those words again
She cried and said

Daddy, don't you walk so fast
(My daughter cried)
Daddy, don't you walk so fast
Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run
Daddy, don't you walk so fast

Daddy, slow down some 'cause you're makin' me run
Oh, daddy, don't you walk so fast

12. Zolok sez
and his ATOMIC MUSIK BRAIN agrees with him...
That "Indiana Wants Me" is a much better song than all the wretched piffle exulted in this thread.
:)
