Edited on Sat Dec-03-05 01:08 PM by terrya
Ok...except for silent films, obviously...

Has there ever been a mainstream film without a musical score? It seems like even documentaries have a musical accompaniment nowadays.

And would such a film do well at the box office? It just seems that music is as integral part of films as dialogue, etc. It would seem sort of...disconerting to see a movie without music in the backround.

1. As someone who is sick of wall-to-wall pop/rock chestnuts which act...
as lazy director emotional signifiers, I would welcome such a movie.
Look, it was really cool when Scorsese and Lucas did this 30 years ago, but now it's jusr reached a ridiculous point.

6. agreed
I don't need John Fucking Williams to tell me when the scene is scary, sappy, inspiring, etc.

3. It's been a long time since I've seen it, but I THINK
Woody Allen's Interiors had no musical score.

But it was a dreary movie overall, Woody Allen trying to be serious and pseudo-profound, with a cast of affluent and self-centered characters who were all kvetches.

9. Yeah...
the only music "Network" had was the theme music for "The Howard Beale Show".

Well...thanks, all. :-)
