I just got my Continuing Disability Review notice--help!
I need moral support. I've got excellent medical records, plus I've written detailed notes for doctors when I've gone in for appts. I just had foot surgery.

I'm real nervous about this, however,
Any tips from those DUers who have gone through this???

Logically, I don't see being thrown off disability, but emotionally, I'm still very upset and anxious about this...

1. just went through it
with my girlfriend. it is a form you have to fill out right? i wouldnt be worried- she get her approved and it was even harder because i was for manic depression. if you have good records and tell them exactly what they need to hear on that form, you will be fine.

2. been there - the things we put the disabled through
you should be fine ... is this an annual review ... I have both a 1-year and a 3-year cycle review to deal with ... the anxiety and such is nerve-wrecking ...

you have a doctor and such; and, that should give you comfort

I know it's easy for someone else to say 'you'll be fine' ... I have 2 reviews ... one for SSDI and one for LTD ... it really gets anxious when circumstances require one to move from the original doctor ... and, having to establish new doctors in a new location ... which lasts 3 years, and another move is dictated beyond your control ... the economy has been the driving force in my SO having to move ... and, I have to suffer through the worry as a result ...

the control freaks who decided 'this is the way it's going to be', and those who support this 'system' ... create a disabling system ... and, actually, add costs to Mr. Bush's frivolous healthcare system ... as well as added stress in an already stressful society ...

to only remove all the stress the inconsiderate masters of our souls have in place for control control control ...

the whole system needs a major process improvement initiative assigned to it with every day people mapping out the system

as I get older, the challenges of getting to a doctor and affording the expense the system imposes on me will only get more difficult

3. I went through this in March of this year
I've been on SS disability since 2000 and my three year review came up earlier this year. I didn't have to do a thing. My therapist did everything and filled out the forms. I was nervous too. From what I was told, once you're on disability it's easier to get renewed than when you're first trying to get on it. As long as your doctor documents that you are still unable to be gainfully employed due to your disability you should be OK. Good luck.

4. Thanks, all!! I just finished getting my info in order....looking back,
I've had so many doctors appointment, it's incredible. Plus, I tend to type up little narratives to go into the Drs. files so I have plenty of anecdotal stuff.

I also heard that if the Dr. writes a note saying you can't work, that tends to help. I have two or three I will ask.

5. My mother has this happen every 10 years or so
It's become a running joke that every so often she has to prove she's still disabled.

I think her problem is that she has a bone disease, and isn't "obviously" handicapped. She uses a cane, but if you aren't in a wheelchair or have a limb missing or deformed, the government seems to think you can work a 40 hour week.

Her lawyer made a big stink about the government harrassing my mother, so I think that stopped it for a while.

6. If she lives to Soc. Security age, they'll let her alone!
Which means I have about 15 years more of this torture.
