Pet Peeve: "You really hit it on the nail..." |
|
AAAAAAAAHHHH!!
I HATE it when people say "You really hit it on the nail..." when the expression is "HIT THE NAIL ON THE HEAD" meaning a properly placed and forceful point being made. It's similar to "you really nailed it" but you don't hit things on the nail.
Al Franken says this ALL the time, and now freakin' Matthew Modine just said it on Majority Report. RRRRRRRRR....
Also, any streaming listeners going insane from the cheeezzzy synth/guitar music that they play between every commercial/program, etc. sometimes for a second, sometimes for a minute. Arrgh!

Hate. If they mixed it up a bit more, it wouldn't be that bad. My favourite annoying thing is when people say "irregardless". Not a word. Is meaningless. Or, "intensive purposes"... doesn't anyone read anymore? The phrase is, "for all intents and purposes". Gawd. Okay, now I'm annoyed.

How hard is it to pronounce words as they are written... and don't get me started about American pronunciation (heee). It is aboot... and it is zed... not zee... it is colour not color; theatre not theater; centre not center. Ya, I'm just taking the piss out of you. No offence.

Hey, g! :hi:
I agree on both accounts. Especially the guitar music stuff...sounds very cheap.

6. I can see your point, but it doesn't irritate me nearly as much as |
|
someone who says "irregardless." That is but one of my pet peeves.

9. Which doesn't annoy me as much as "every once and a while" |
|
It's "once IN a while" folks, as in occuring once during a certain period of time.
