The Daily RetroLounge Poetry Thread (Sat 12/17/05)
The Kiss

My mouth blooms like a cut.
I've been wronged all year, tedious
nights, nothing but rough elbows in them
and delicate boxes of Kleenex calling crybaby
crybaby , you fool !
Before today my body was useless.
Now it's tearing at its square corners.
It's tearing old Mary's garments off, knot by knot
and see -- Now it's shot full of these electric bolts.
Zing! A resurrection!

Once it was a boat, quite wooden
and with no business, no salt water under it
and in need of some paint. It was no more
than a group of boards. But you hoisted her, rigged her.
She's been elected.

My nerves are turned on. I hear them like
musical instruments. Where there was silence
the drums, the strings are incurably playing. You did this.
Pure genius at work. Darling, the composer has stepped
into fire.

Anne Sexton

4. I used to write a lot of poetry
Edited on Sat Dec-17-05 02:30 PM by GoPsUx
heres one i remember i wrote when i was extremely lonely and in a bad place..
I am better now :O)

Serenity penitentiary

Alone I sit in this prison cell
The walls they are closing it seems i'm in hell
The silence is frightening theres never a sound.
The eyes in my head watch the world spin around
But still i sit i wait by the phone
I wait by the door
But still I'm Alone
When will my sentance come to pass
And why can't I break these bars made of glass
On the other side i know i'll be fine.
But the key is in Hiding I'm just doing time.

Being lonely Sucked ASS!!!!
P.S.
Public school education so get off of me on the crappy grammar

6. Mmmm...how wonderful and evocative this is!
You must have had some fun last night, my dear RetroLounge!

Because I think that your fun did inspire you today.....

How lucky for all of us who love you, and your poetry threads!

"...Darling, the composer has stepped into fire." How perfect a line this is, how evocative....

First you make the fire, then you step into it, IMHO.......

Welcome home to the Lounge, my dear!

13. what's the point
of making mischief if you're not going to feel any better? or am i being too personal? do like this poem. very very accurate. think i might be looking for some resurrection soon. maybe you could spread some of that love my way . . . or mischief, whatever you're in the mood for. (as long as it makes you feel better at some point, though. shame to waste mischief.)

14. Ah, perhaps I was not totally clear...
one portion of my life (non-mischief), not feeling too much better about. May get worse soon.

another portion of my life (Mischief), feeling MUCH MUCH better. Damn better. That walk around sighing type of better. Looking contented. Form that Crooked little smile and stare off into space. Makes me want to write. Hearing songs in my head. Keeps nice thoughts in my head. Stress seems to go away; weight lifted. Happy. Happier. Sometime I even giggle. Need more of it...

As far as *your* resurrection, well, I'll see if I have some free time in the future. Maybe I could spread some of that love your way. How about some Friday night? I seem to be available on Friday nights.

p.s. Welcome to DU.

Sounds like you had ALOT more fun than I did, on MY birthday night! :spank: Ah well, you sound as though you've sorely needed some diversion. I'm glad you had fun, darlin'!:hi:
