so, according to some nazi asswipe on the radio this morning
domestic spying, although inherently repugnant and illegal, is necessary in "wartime" so as to deal with all those who are providing "aid and comfort" to the "enemy". Well, I feel a lot better about it all now. Thanks for explaining, Sturmbanfuhrer Cal Thomas.

In other words, it's important to finish tearing the constitution into convenient squares and wiping your nazi ass with it, so as to preserve our American way of life?

Oh well. The Redskins won, so I guess everything's alright with the world. Sigh.

5. I guess so...it still shocks me, though

The loyalty to the cult always surprises me, no matter how many times I see it. Some of these people seem like they would still support their man W even if their own children were locked up in a gulag.

I also noticed, looking at a couple of news sites over the weekend, that the headlines went from "Bush Admits to Domestic Spying: Currently Illegal" to "Bush Admits to Spying" to...well, nothing. I suppose that's typical, too.

"The Reich will never be destroyed if you are united and loyal."

7. If I were some sort of Democratic voice anyone paid any attention to...
I'd be out there screaming how this is a form of "fenceless" Internment Camp system.

The mark of the beast...

You know, that sort of thing.

This administration NEVER ceases to come in under my expectations.

I'm *CERTAIN* the vast majority of this spying had political rather than
National Security motivations.

It's the *ONLY* thing Rove understands.

2. Ya know
there's a heapload of people who say the words "Separation of Church and State" are not in the Constitution (even though the sentiment is clearly there).... to them I want to ask, "Where are the words 'except during wartime' in the Fourth Amendment?"

Not only are the words not there, the sentiment isn't even there.

And, for the record, only Congress can declare war, and that hasn't happened.

Why bother fighting for freedom for Iraqis if the cost is going to be a loss of freedom for us?

Why are the people in this country so willing to give up the America they supposedly love in order to support this bone-headed president?

6. clearly, "we're fighting them over there so we don't have to...
fight them here." But nevertheless, it's apparently wartime here as well, so we're "spying on them over here so we don't have to...ummm...uh..."

8. spying is "aid and comfort to the enemy"
I don't think it's a stretch to say that taking the ability to use evidence away from the prosecutors is "aid and comfort". Anything that is discovered from these wiretaps are useless. It's helping the terrorists to throw it away like that.

Yes it is odd to see "conservatives" rushing out to say that it is okay for big brother to do whatever the hell King George wants it to.

11. exactly
I usually try to tune the fucker out and just hang on for the weather/traffic, but it was just too much this morning. It just makes me wonder what the hell drives a man like that. Is he paid by the Reich for propaganda duties? He seems to be the only one of these kind of people that I wind up inadvertently hearing, and I guess I should just look at it as a window into the twisted mind of the right wing...but I just wind up baffled and angry. I mean, this is what some people actually think? It gives me the cold shivers.
