Hey! I think I got your bug from last week. Thursday night went to bed feeling cruddy, and good ol' NyQuil got me through last night, when the fever broke. I am almost back to normal (whatever that is). :hug:

I'm thinking mine may have been an allergic reaction to one of my student's perfume. It's cheesy stuff. She sprayed it in class on Thursday and I immediately began sneezing. She wasn't there Friday but we can check this out tomorrow.

But, sick or not, Nyquil is the bomb, baby. Cherry flavor!!

Normal Zomby, huh? Is that interesting or boring? (I used to work at Abbott Labs and left after two years because everyone who worked there was normal. It was creepy.)

Since you "get" Zappa, then you will understand the subtext of this thread, and how it can be both sincere and satirical at the same time. Like his doo-wop parodies. ;-)

It's simple why I picked the name. I wanted something that would easily translate into a nickname, and that worked. I am even called "Zomby" at DU gatherings.

But the main reason, besides utility and easy recognition, is found in my sig line. I often write bluntly honest posts, no matter the topic, but especially on music and politics. What better brand name for my style of truth than the Zomby Troof? Of course, there are those comically threatening lines in the song "They all seek for shelter when I come charging out", and "Don't mess with the Zomby Woof!" that can apply to one or two of my missives.

All that, and the piece does have one of FZ's trademark nasty solos!

I did see the Seattle Symphony play his music back in 1995, with Ike Willis, Chad Wackerman, the Fowler brothers, Tommy Mars, and Steve Vai! The first part of the performance was JUST the symphony playing the 3 classical pieces from "The Perfect Stranger". After intermission, the band came out in front to do everything from "Brown Shoes Don't Make It" to "When The Lie's So Big". Vai's vserion of "Sofa #1" was fantastic.

I got Tommy's autograph, who was the only one to stay and chat after the show. I am still beating myself up to this day for missing a chance to see Frank and his band play back in 1984. He never came close to where I was living on his next several tours before retiring from the road.

I only saw FZ once, back in 1983 in Chicago. Awesome.
Try to catch Project Object if you can. It's the closest thing there is left and Ike is so much better on guitar than he used to be. Also Napolean is an awesome performer. They play a nice eclectic mix of FZ stuff.
