The Official if you hate American football you're a huge Candy-Ass thread!
For all you non-football, (I'd rather sun in the park) or play frisbee golf or play Chess and eat brie, or cuddle up next to a fire place reading love stories, or spending your day at a poem reading festival, or wallowing away in silent misery, or posting on DU all Saturday and Sunday afternoon, or just start stupid threads on DU trying to act all snooty because you're just so above watching the greatest game on Earth, er......You're just a bunch of Candy-Asses! ;-)

I hate watching golf.
Tennis is boring.

I love badminton. Does that make me a candy-ass?

But I have to say SDJ kicks Sinatra's ass. Martin's ass too.

In fact, those guys can't hold a candle to Sammy. SDJ is one of the massively underated mothafuckas ever.

Remember the song? Sorry. You asked. All of the Rat Pack kicked butt (maybe not Joey Bishop or Peter Lawford). Have a martini in their honor and watch some damned football.

I defended our honor on "that other thread" (will not dignify it here). Good to have a strong and sound ally. May your teams thrive and prosper (unless they play Michigan State). Please enjoy(?)yet another Lions game on Thanksgiving Day, eat too much and belch profusely. As a great American, you deserve at least that much.

41. I loved the Rainbow Warriors last week
Beat up Army in the first half, 31-7. That was so far clear of my -14 first half wager that I even chuckled when Timmy Chang threw that ridiculous interception with about 45 seconds left in the 2nd quarter, with Army returning it 80 yards for a TD to make it 31-7.

Hawaii has some impressive athletes, especially that rangy playmaking DE whose name escapes me right now.

14. Amen.
I hate people who start "I hate this or that" threads. Fuck people if they want to flaunt their dislikes in public. I won't crap on people's likes here normally, but if people start threads to criticize things others here will like, then too bad. Football is a fascinating game to play and watch.

15. shouldn't this be:
"if you like american football more than rugby or aussie rules football, you're a candyass?"

think about it, in american football, you can pass forward and wear padding. padding! and it's just two lines of guys ramming into eachother anyway.

give me rugby or ice hockey anyday.

16. Ya ever been on the field during an American Pro football game
Ya ever see a 250 pound lineman who can run a 4.5 forty run into a Runningback who's 225 pounds and can run a 4.3 forty? The impact is a violent as you'll ever see.... I'm not saying that rugby's not violent...but those little slow Rugby players would last about 30 seconds on an American Pro football field!

No comparison to the size and speend of American football!

18. Don't be so sure about that...
Rugby players might struggle in the NFL, but NFL players might struggle just as much in rugby. The skills don't necessarily transfer as easily as one might think, and the type of cardio conditioning needed to get through a rugby game is very different than that needed for an American football game.

24. I don't hate football, I'm just not interested in it.
Really, hating would require me to have some form of emotional investment in the sport. I don't hate it, don't like it, don't watch it, and only really think about football when I'm surfing channels on a Sunday and I pass the channels that show football.

As for being candy assed, used to play this little sport called Rugby. Kinda like football, without all those pads that wimpy footballers hide under.

34. Football is much rougher than rugby
I've played them both. The helmet and pads protect against death, but not pain and injury. By necessity, rugby does not allow blocking or forward passes and tackling is oblique, wrapping the legs.

BTW, I prefer playing rugby but watching football.

39. I'll disagree on that one.
I've played both, and, like I wrote above, I disagree. There are some very fierce hits in rugby and a lot of not so fierce hits in football. It's not so one way or the other as it seems be made out on this board. Nevermind that there are simply fewer plays in football, with much less contact overall over the course of a game.

football is tolerable for about 10 minutes two or three time a year and for a whole game if it's part of a decent social occasion.

It's the perfect "national sport" for a neofascist country like Murka. Simplistic, violent and pointless.

42. Sounds familiar, I've lost a flock of girlfriends in Las Vegas
Women don't like sports betting or the time-consuming nature of it. I forfeited several promising relationships, especially during my "apprenticeship", i.e. wild subjective stabs before doing exhaustive research via computer.

But my current galpal is a cocktail waitress who works the sportsbook area at a major casino, and she loves that we are doing so well this season! She has even been giving my first half wagering selections to sportsbook customers and receiving generous tips as a result.

I love the first half, Trumad, despise the second half. All the spread destroying "can you believe that?" crap is confined to post-halftime, which I now happly watch minus wagering involvement.
