1. I bought some oop Philip K Dick books through them |
|
Perfect service, at least from the people I dealt with through them. But you have to realize that it just puts you in touch with other retailers, so I'd imagine it would vary from deal to deal.

I used it several times working as a clerk in a used bookstore. It is only one of several sites doing this sort of thing. You should generally hit all of them to make sure you're getting the best possible deal.

My sister is a seller on ABE. She buys occasionally, but mainly sells. They have a pretty good system...protection for all involved. The Barnes and Noble part of the system isn't as good...gouges the seller on shipping costs.

4. Actually Half.com is the best. |
|
But I'm biased because I sell books from there.

5. I've used abe, and a few other sites and never had a problem. |
|
I even scored a rare copy of a guide I'd been needing for $13. The seller admitted the copy had some stains on it, but it was entirely readable and so it was.
I'm happy.

6. ABE plus Amazon Z-Shops |
|
ABE is very good, I buy a lot there. Amazon also has used books (I sell there), but you have to go search so-called Z-Shops to find the really old or unique used books.
opps, sorry, "Pre-used" books. :7

8. I use it all the time... |
|
..but not for buying. I use it to check the value of old books. I'm a dealer in antique paper items, and I also often pick up books that I think could bring me a profit. It's invaluable for that.
People buying books should also check eBay for good buys.

I still prefer Powells.com, however.

11. I've bought a lot from them |
|
I've always had good luck, but of course the service depends on the individual seller.
