Today I Mourn My Great Loss... |
|
I mourn the loss of my youth. In this past weekend's mail, I received an invitation to join AARP. The AARP??!!
No! This can't be happening to me.
Where did they get my name and address anyway? What makes them think that I'm ready to join? What makes them think that I'm OLD ENOUGH to join? (Which I'm NOT by the way!)
Even though I'm not old enough to join... apparently SOMEONE thinks that I am. --- This is a sign... a sign that my youth has passed... a sign that I'm now "middle-aged". (If I live to be 86, then indeed, I truly am MIDDLE aged.)
Sigh. (I suppose the cataracts and bifocals should have been a clue.)

4. Soon the waist of your pants will be up around your nipples. |

You'll be wearing white patent leather belts and shoes! The slippery slope begins! :o
By the way, you could send that application back with a sarcastic "Thanks for nothing!" scrawled on it! }(

...some people actually do retire at 40 or thereabouts. Mostly Republicans(Democrats work, Republicans invest).

8. Does your dad have the same name you do? |
|
My husband and his dad have the same first and last names. On his dad's 50th birthday, my husband got an AARP solicitation.
(We live in different states. How they confused the addresses is anyone's guess.)

9. Don't feel too bad. My sister got an AARP invitation when she was 12!! |
|
And the only thing funnier than that is where AARP got her name and address from - The Trinity Broadcasting Network!!
