OMG! Iron Chef tonight is using ---- natto! ***disgusting** |
|
Edited on Tue Dec-27-05 11:08 PM by Rabrrrrrr
Which has to be one of my most hated of all foods. I find natto utterly disgusting, both in smell, taste, and especially in texture. I almost threw up the first time I had it. My partner loves the shit, and I can always tell when she's opened a container of it, even hours later.
:shudder:
I'm glad I'm not one of the cooks on Iron Chef tonight, cuz I'd have to give up as soon as the food was announced, saying, "I'm sorry, but I'm can't even think of that shit without wanting to throw up, I'm sure as hell not going to come up with 5-7 ways to cook it in the next hour."

3. It's fermented soy bean in a pasty substance, |
|
and when you pull on the beans, you get a long stringy viscous thingy that looks like snot and smells worse.
Remember when Harry pulled his wand out of the troll's nose? That is exactly it.

6. Clarification - the fermentation makes the stringy shit, |
|
it's not something that's added to the soybeans, so it's not really "in", as I said in the post; it just is.

7. You should ask he if she likes it - it's a real love/hate kind of food, |
|
like oysters or lutefisk. Either you love it or you hate it.

It sounds like the kind of thing she wouldn't be into.

You need to be more specific, even if it bothers you to do so.
The "Japanese" reference in another reply tells me I may not be happy that I asked you for specifics, but....

That's some purely vile stuff.
I'd have to be REAL hungry before I'd consider THAT to be actual food...

10. That is the nastiest crap EVER. My wife, who introduced me to all manner |
|
of awesome sushi goodness, talked me into trying this once and it was horrific. Of course, she talks about what a wuss I am but won't eat it herself, LOL.

11. The natto sausage could be tasty. And I'm curious about the Coke dish. |
|
That might be tasty as well, though not necessarily.

21. Judging by looks and my own sense of how things taste, I think the winner: |
|
will be the challenger.
I also think that the Cola flavored desert thingy is going to be more of a hit than people might expect - I should think it would have a similar (though obviously not the same) flavor of sweetened azuki.

23. Do you ever wonder who the first person was to decide...yeah, this is food |
|
Some comedian, I can't remember who, did a bit about that. Like, who was the first person to open up a raw oyster, see a gray, mucousy, slimey blob inside, and go, "Hmmm. Gray, mucousy slime. I think I'll eat it."
