Troll V.S. Freeper - Please Help Me Out!

I hate being ignorant with things I should be aware to. With all the troll talk goin on in GD I wanted to finally ask the following question, so that I may perceive discussion more accurately.

What is the difference between a Troll and a Freeper? Is a Troll a freeper in disguise, but once exposed is once again a freeper? Are Trolls and Freepers interchangeable terms? Or does a troll have more of disruption purpose while Freepers just come in to type their "fuck barbara boxer she's a bleepity bleep" one hit wonders?

Any insight into the two terms comparison would be appreciated.

is a Troll from Freep.

Some guy who spends all his time on free republic (or acts like he does) is a freeper, even if he doesn't try to disrupt on DU.

9. well, freeper is also a generic term

for anybody who uses a RW talking point or votes Republican or would vote Republican if they bothered to vote. Things like white guys in big pick-up trucks are called freepers regardless of whether they even know what FRee Republic is.

but I am not the one doing the calling. I am just noticing how DU often uses this term. I try to be a little bit more precise and look more to the bumper stickers than the vehicle. Driving a huge new pick-up to work does not seem very practical or environmentally sound, but one woman I can remember who did that was a registered Democrat.

A troll just has too much time on his hands (one of them anyway) and thinks getting other people to lose their cool makes him superior.

14. A troll posts provocative/controversial material in a deliberate

attempt to provoke other posters into a flamewar or general uproar. They relish getting under peoples' skins and seeing what sorts of reactions they can stir up. Generally they don't truly believe what they are posting, or at least don't have an active concern for it. They are just out for kicks.

A "Freeper" is generally a person who is (or could be) a member of Free Republic, but is sometimes a term used to describe any right-wingnut.

A troll may be a freeper in disguise, but that is not always the case. Some ardent freepers merely want to have a genuine debate, however brief, so they can get in a plug for their hero before they get tombstoned.

They go to forums and such and "troll" for reactions. It comes from when people go trolling for fish as in this definition: "to fish by trailing a lure or baited hook from a moving boat".

Makes a lot of sense now and after reading all the replies in this thread I believe I am ignorant in this avenue no more :)

Funny though, based on some inconsistencies in the replies it seems several others also had their own interpretration but never really knew the exact difference lol.
