3. Hey Hey Hey Hey Hey!
Pull that bus over to the side of the pretentiousness turnpike, alright!? I want everybody off the bus. I want the shiny people over here, and the happy people over here, ok! I represent angry gun-toting meat-eating fucking people, alright!" Sit down and shut the fuck up Michael!

5. I hate that song
I would rather listen to Stand over and over and over again than ever have to hear Shiny Happy People EVER again (and I actually hate both songs)

REM was cool until I saw them live, Michael Stipe was so smacked I could tell from the center of RFK stadium. That and, whenever he wasn't singing some new crappy song off an album that wasn't due out for 3 months, he was spewing this pretentious trite garbage that made no sense. "Make this day what it is and make it your own. You guys are beautiful." He said it so many times I thought I was going to be sick.

I don't think he has to pay the tolls to drive the pretentious turnpike, he has a lifetime free pass.

13. And I know from your latest postings who you have mistakenly

You need to find a more honest broadcast. Try stereo, as in all sides.

The truth might be very enlightening!

Smiley waves and happy emoticons aside, one cannot mask the confusion and intent.

You'd have to bring something ugly to it in order to get any ugliness out of it. Anyway, sorry if I offended you. You've always been cheerful in my direction.

16. If I overreacted, then it is I that apologize.
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 04:12 PM by merh
Your postings of late have caused great confusion.

Sadly, it seems that cheerful postings and good wishes are mocked and taunted. I am gun shy and human, the pangs caused by the mockery do offend, or to quote another, I am loyal to a fault and I do feel the pains of those I love.

Again, may I suggest you try listening in surround sound. The echos you hear may end up being simple distortions of the truth and the whines softened by the bass of reality.

18. I know that there have been some rounds of PM gossip in my absence
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 04:18 PM by jpgray
But I go by what I see myself rather than what I hear. It's always the worst part of the truth you get via PM gossip, as a surfeit of essential facts is usually left unsaid in those exchanges to get to the salacious bits and for the gossip to achieve the desired effect. I find it amazing how much conflict one or two people can create just through DU's lil' inbox.

Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 04:30 PM by merh
people are involved if you do not rely on pm gossip? How do you know of the pm gossip that occurred in your absence?

Ask those that have shared their version with you if I am free to provide you with the communications I have had with them.

I do not listen to gossip, I deal in truth and facts. And I know that there are several versions of the truth. How many versions have you taken the time to pay attention to? I can honestly say I have had open communications with all parties involved. Have you?

21. Yes
I've friends on both sides, and am listening to both. One such person was the sole dissenter on whether or not I was a troll during my first few posts here, if I remember. :D

As for how I know, I'm sure the mods or admins could tell you it's not all that subtle. When a seemingly innocent thread makes someone irate and then each accuses the other of being part of some evil cabal it's pretty clear something is up. When the same people beat on each other in every thread that they have contact in, I don't think PMs are necessary to know there's animosity.

23. Really, you have listened to all sides.
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 04:47 PM by merh
I was unable to tell, given your posts of late. It is not subtle when the meanness continues, despite efforts asking for a truce. Not just efforts, begging and pleading, in public. I know of no evil cabal, but I do find your use of that term enlightening. There are others that use that term but since you haven't received pmails and/or don't pay attention to them, I suppose you just came up with that term from the impression left by the hate that permeates.

How sad that it continues.

25. I definitely receive pmails
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 04:52 PM by jpgray
But I was in the dark up until today on who exactly was mad at who and why. (How ironic we're having this out in this particular thread.) As for "cabal," I think that was used in one of the mystery snark threads--either the repost of the Beastman/Hedges smackery or the post about a picture thread being up a long time unwittingly set ablaze under Rabrrrrrr's nose. I forget who accused who of being the cabal, but it's pretty transparent at this point to anyone with eyes and brains. As for my posts, in the Lounge you should never take them seriously or to heart. Anyone who knows me can tell you that.

Isn't "put it in the ground where the flowers grow" kind of subversive?

33. I always looked at the song as social commentaty.
It was in the late 1980s, and everyone (the royal everyone) had this fake happiness about them that the Reagan years fostered. So, I think of this as Stipe's mockery of that.
