No offense to Texas fans, but
I'm currently in the Phoenix airport awaiting my flight to Burbank and can I just say... the signs are there for a reason. Do NOT stop in the middle of the fucking walkway to decide if you're in the right terminal. Do not wear your ugly fuck team colors from head to toe 3 FUCKING DAYS and 2 STATES away from your bowl game. You look like a dumbass hick.

Did I mention get the FUCK out of my way?

This rant applies to a lesser degree to fans from Notre Dame and Ohio State, though they seem capable of reading the damn signs.

Thank you. :rant:

37. Hey Bouncy.
I haven't seen you around for a while? How has school been? Anyhow, it's amazing that Austin can pass a gay marriage amendment which fixes nothing, give themselves a raise by rasing the salaries of judges on whose salaries are based the pensions of the representatives and congress people, but can't fund our education program after 4 tries. Sheesh!

This happens whenever SOME Texans leave the state. Not this Texan, mind you. I CAN read signs, despite having been skooled in public skools in Texas from kindiegarden all the way through the sixteenth grade.

Wait, I'm in the eighteenth grade now, right? Yeah. Eighteenth. 4.0, yee-ha.

23. hullabaloo caneck caneck

Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!
Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!
All hail to dear old Texas A&M
Rally around Maroon and White;
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show the fight.
That good old Aggie spirit thrills us,
And makes us yell and yell;
So let's fight for dear old Texas A&M,
We're going to beat you all to ----

Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Rough! Tough!
Real stuff! Texas A&M!

Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!
Hullabaloo, Caneck! Caneck!
Goodbye to Texas University,
So long to the Orange and the White.
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show the fight.
The eyes of Texas are upon you,
That is the song they sing so well,
So, goodbye to Texas University,
We're going to beat you all to ----

Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Chig-gar-roo-gar-rem!
Rough! Tough!
Real stuff! Texas A&M!

Oh and this part?

All hail to dear old Texas A&M
Rally around Maroon and White;
Good luck to the dear old Texas Aggies,
They are the boys who show the fight.
That good old Aggie spirit thrills us,
And makes us yell and yell;
So let's fight for dear old Texas A&M,

I never remember singing that verse. Just the second and last ones.

When putative Mormons think the Aggie Yells are weirder than all get-out, you KNOW it's weird...

and now we know why Georgie Butch couldn't attend A&M:

28. It's a little ironic that someone from Utah was talking about
cults, but there it is.

Yeah, it can seem VERY cult-like from the outside. And it probably is, a bit.

Everyone knows what to do at yell and at games because of Fish Camp, the nice name for the official indoctrination camp you attend before your freshman year.

And there's not much else to do in College Station besides get drunk, have sex and go to yell and football games. So there's that factor, too.

29. I admit, I am not an Aggie,
but I worked with quite a few of them, and spent some time working with the Association of Former Students on an archiving project.

Why, non-Aggie-savvy folks may ask, does A&M not have an Alumni Association?

Well, you see, just because an ole boy didn't finish up at A&M, doesn't mean that he wouldn't want to have A&M share in the fruits of his later-begotten riches. Hence, the Association of Former Students.

30. You know, I never thought about that.
Edited on Sun Jan-01-06 03:09 PM by Bouncy Ball
Why it's called that instead of an alumni association. But that makes complete sense.

When I left there, I said I'd never give a penny to the university, and I've made good on that promise. The place is too insular and closed-minded to ever be a world-class university like they claim they want to be. Until that mindset changes, they won't be. It's a huge stumbling block, but so many Aggies are so blind to it. Part of the culture, I guess.

On edit, and it's just like an Aggie to take a thread about UT and make it about Aggies. :evilgrin:

32. Hey, I can make it a kitty thread AND an Aggie thread!
My veterinarian (A&M grad, of course!), when I lived in Sugar Land, provided veterinary services to at least one Reveille. Dr. Steve rocked the house, and performed awesome surgery on my Rocky kitty to remove a cancerous tumor. She was 10 at the time, and lived to be 18.

13. Offended? Moi?

Golly, I can't imagine any Texas fan being offended by your thoughtful, incisive ruminations.

FYI, I just returned from a trip to Europe, and I can report that clueless behavior at airports is not confined to particular universities, nor even to particular nations. Airports are the natural environment of the tired, confused and hurried, and they behave accordingly.

But please, don't let me stand in the way of yet another session of DU Texas bashing.
