"New Years Day"- U2 (an appreciation)
"New Years Day"- U2

All is quiet on new year’s day,
A world in white gets underway,
And I want to be with you,
Be with you night and day.
Nothing changes on new year’s day.
I will be with you again.
I will be with you again.

Under a blood-red sky
A crowd has gathered in black and white.
Arms entwined, the chosen few,
Newspapers say, it says it’s true.
And we can break through,
Though torn in two we can be one.
I will begin again, I will begin again.
Oh and maybe the time is right,
Oh maybe tonight.
I will be with you again.
I will be with you again.

And so we are told this is the golden age
And gold is the reason for the wars we wage.
Though I want to be with you,
Be with you night and day.
Nothing changes on new year’s day.

This is the first song I listen to every year. It renews my hope. Helped me get/stay sober on/since January 1, 1988.

We as a people can and MUST unite to change things. Renewal. Redemption.

I love this great nation, this awesome planet with its beautiful people, and a piece of me dies every time that small handful of greedy, evil bastards causes the death of any human being- even those that die for what they believe to be a "just cause". War does not serve Justice. Never has and never will. War serves one thing only- Death. The aphorism "If you want Peace- work for Justice" is true and is as pertinent today as it has ever been.

After today, we only have 364 days to make 2006 a better year- let's get crackin'!

Peace to us all,

stlsaxman

I was pretty heavy into that song for a while too. And like you, played it on Jan 1 more than a couple of years.

Congrats on the long term sobriety and thanks for the totally inspiring messg !!!!

Peaceable world descend....

:hi:

PS: Does KSHE still exist? Does it still rock? Grew up in St. Louis and it was the soundtrack of my life from about 72-78.

edit: Spelled your nic correctly this time, I hope...

2. Thanks darkstar
bad news about K-SHIT, though.... they became corporate rock central just about the time you left. Nowadays they're just stuck in classic rock land with the occasional Pearl Jam song. Thank god for iTunes!
