Calling all DU cat experts
I just adopted an adult cat from a friend who is ill. It's a female mix that is between six and seven years old.

Can a cat that old be spayed? Will spaying help with the "peeing all over any clothing left on the floor" problem? Her box is clean and she does use it, she just appears to find pissing on clothing irresistible and it's really ... umm ... upsetting to me and my family.

1. she's not too old to be spayed
and she's "marking" her territory.

something that may help: http://www.placervillevet.com/feliway.htm

It's available from Pet Smart.

Also, to clean up the pee and the smell: http://www.cherrybrook.com/store/ProductDetails.aspx?parent=true&productID=53025

Nature's Miracle is an enzyme. More about it here:

2. If you don't fix her she will always go into heat too.
She isn't too old for that.

3. She is not too old to spay
And should be spayed. It will keep her from going into heat and also protect her from cancers of the reproductive organs.

4. Spay that girl! Also, the further into her life she goes unspayed, the
better the chances for certain cancers to occur.

5. Definitely get her spayed
Don't know if it will help with the peeing though.

Cats like to mark new territory. She might stop after she feels at home.

6. Ask your vet. Ask a site dedicated to cats. Don't ask at the DU Lounge!!
Poor cat. At that age to have to train new humans.....
