Except in their minds. Marriage is, and always has been, in a state of constant change because people and society are always in a state of constant change. The fundies try to blame it on the gays or the women's movement, but really it is just a normal condition of humanity.

There are rules:
1. The woman always has to do what the man says.
2. She has to have sex with him any time he wants it.
3. He is not allowed to beat her with a stick bigger around than his thumb.
4. It's okay for him to get drunk and have sex with other women, if he wants.
5. It is the woman's job to take care of the kids.
6. Don't serve supper late, or she'll get a beating.
