Who has a s.o. who does not post on DU? |
|
Edited on Mon Jan-02-06 03:08 PM by NNadir
I notice many couples posting here. My wife on the other hand has never joined DU. She doesn't do or like the computer socializing/action thing. She's very liberal, a veteran of many protests, going back to Rodney King and lots of big anti-war protests in recent years. My wife is also very sweet but she has NO interest in logging on here. She says she wouldn't know what to say.
I imagine I am not the only such person here. Does anyone else have a similar relationship, wherein they are DUers but their SO is not?

2. My husband doesn't post |
|
The only reason he's on the computer is to work on his research and check his e-mail. He's always interested in what I have to say about DU and is like-minded in every way, but message boards just aren't his thing.

8. I will admit that my wife complains about the time I spend here sometimes. |
|
I tell her it helps me blow off steam and sometimes I think I am even helping our country in a desperate time.

and was glad to see some social worker types chime in.
I have a rather similar situation right now in my classroom..mom in jail, Dad on the run, grandparents in very poor health. I wish I could adopt them all.

36. I would take this kid home in a heartbeat |
|
He is just an awesome kid. Last year, I recommended him for a program where he got to meet one of the Chiefs (NFL) players. He came to school the next day with marker all over his arm. I told him to go down to the restroom and wash it off. He looked at me like he was going to cry; that was where the football player had given him an autograph. He said "I am NEVER washing this off". I said why didn't you just have him sign a piece of paper? He told me he didn't have enough paper because he asked for autographs for his 3 little brothers. Now how many kids would even think of getting an autograph for their siblings?
Lately he has decided he wants to find his sister. I caught him googling her name on the internet.
He is one of those rare kids we don't get too often.

9. My husband does not. And I also find him thinking I spend |
|
too much time in DU. He's always telling me "such and such is not going to happen". I try to break things gently to him.
He plays Hearts on line a great deal of the time with others. Makes him happy.....He's very much a liberal.
Our only problems is he doesn't see the news channels as threatening as I do. I SEE what FOX news and others do, and he thinks I'm overly involved with conspiracies.
Ah well....it works for us. I LOVE DU and will forever read these boards.

My husband is happy to hear current events and information from me, after I read it here but he's not into message boards.
I don't think I'd like to be a posting couple. I need my own space to do things, just as he has his hobbies/interests that I'm not involved in. We have shared interests, this just isn't one of them. Good thing too, I don't want to share my 'puter. LOL!
I'm not knocking couples that do this--I think it's sweet that so many couples are both involved in DU--shared interests keep relationships strong! :hi:

but I read things from here to him quite often. He doesn't take the time to use the computer for chat but likes my updates. Being in Kansas, it is easy to get depressed by the shit chimpy does since most people here support everything he fucks up. DU helps us remember there are sane people still around. Although, he can tell when I spend much time in GD because I come home so grouchy and cussing about *'s Amurka. He prefers me to stay in the Lounge even though he thinks it's goofy in here!
