What's the best website for rental cars?
Going on vacation next week and I think I can do better than Travelocity.

Any ideas?

1. the prices are all the same on most websites

cendant owns most of the major auto rental companies and they share their info with the travel websites.

if anything they might vary one or two dollars on a second by second basis.

5. it's true
tip:

select your major airport location for the best rates. the little satellite office has fewer cars and higher rates, but if you live near a major international or regional airport, they have lots full of them.

3. I contact the various agencies directly.
Sometimes they have specials on their websites that are not on Travelocity. You can try Priceline or Orbitz to see what they have.

6. Good luck!
I also get discount cards from one of my credit cards, and I'm a AAA member. Between all of that, I can get a decent deal.

10. I'll check for work discounts too. Any good Key West hotel rec's?

I'm going to the Keys and want to hit Key West one day/night and definitely will not drive back to the Islamorada area after a day of fun in Key West. Can't locate any shuttle services that run late.

I just can't make myself log onto to work today. I think I'll put it off one more day.

I hear the Keys are nice though.

12. Are you kidding me? Never, ever been to Florida?
I think the Keys are the best part, but I have a few other faves like Clearwater Beach.

This pic was taken in June on some island (I can't recall the name) off the panhandle in June:

I think it was my favorite beach in Florida, but didn't really care too much for the rebel flag mentality of the surrounding area.

I'm off to see Syriana. Be back in a bit!

It reminds me too much of Texas, but with nicer beaches. ;)

Edit - enjoy the movie!

20. Undetermined. Likely that it's dolphin, but it was black under the water
and not grey. I know...that's me in the kayak with my two much younger (23 years younger!) brothers. I think I'm in the blue vest with my back to the camera. I saw it and yelled for the boys to get to shore just as my sister happened to snap that pic on the beach. It was only a week later that the first person was attacked in the same area along a sandbar as we are in that pic.

Probably dolphin, but not sure. I was close enough that I didn't want to wait around and find out.

14. ohh, Keys are wonderful, we stayed on Grassy Key, just north
of Marathon.

Go see Ernest Hemingway's house especially if you like cats.

The best thing we did though was take the day trip to the Dry Tortugas.

15. I was just looking at Dry Tortugas. How did you get there?
Remember the tour company? I kind of want to do something fun like that before we hit Duval.

And I'm actually staying on Lower Matecumbe Key south of Islamorada. Very mellow.

17. There are several booths/ticket places around the Island from
whom you can purchase a reservation. The boats leave early, (big huge turbo catamarans) and you get breakfast and lunch. Then you get 3 or 4 hours on the island; you can tour the old fort, play on the beach, snorkel(the coral along the base of the fort's foundation is fabulous!). Then you get snacks on the boat ride back, and the boat ride is a blast. We got back in plenty of time to get a nice supper and wander around Key West for a while before we went back up to our hotel.

You could probably google it and find lots of links for tickets; it is a National HIstoric shrine/monument, by the way.

Its a little program you download that runs in your browser. I found some good airfares and car rental this summer using it.
