"Can connect to the access point but the internet cannot be found." |
|
:grr:
Do you know how it feels to see that for an hour, after spending three hours to get this stupid #&$*##(@#@!!! wireless stuff working? With the screwdrivers and the "don't break my computer"ing and the running up and down the stairs to see if the router's on, and if the light is on, and the blah blah blah.
:grr:
And the thing STILL won't connect! (Runs screaming from the room.)

1. If it is a wireless router |
|
sometimes you need to wait 6-8hrs with your cable/dsl modem to give up its current IP. Then turn it on in this order: modem, wireless router, computer.

3. Thanks, both of you. You know what it was? |
|
I had to turn off the wireless computer and turn it back on.
Simple as that. After an hour or so.
Sigh.
And btw, isn't using a router splicing, in a way? Though, the cable company suggested the wireless route to me when I balked at paying another fifty bucks/month for another computer, when another TV with cable isn't another 70 bucks/month. I was being kind of cross that day, but it worked out.

4. Yes, using a router is in effect splicing |
|
they just sometimes want to know that it's you that set it up, and not someone sitting between you and them
