Poll question: What kind of catnip addict is your cat?
Someday, we will extend the war on drugs to the felines, but until then, we can laugh at them while they are stoned out of their gourds.

Still, each cat reacts to the nip in a slightly different fashion.
Some are cocaine-nippers: paranoid, wired, frazzled, but a short high and then back to reality.

Some cats are meth-nippers: long hours of fruitless shaky buzz, hyper and bizarre, but not quite as paranoid as the coke kitties.

Then there are the nodder-nippers: cats for whom nip acts like heroin, putting them out of the blue and into the black in a matter of minutes.

The pot-nippers get the munchies, lay around and think deep thoughts, but have no way of communicating those thoughts.

The Acid-nippers are the ones that have imaginary fights with unknown creatures, often ending with the cat on the curtain rods and the curtains shredded.

We have a nodder and a cocaine kitty; we used to have a bong hit cat as well.

What about yours?

2. Milo seems unaffected.
First cat I ever knew who didn't seem to care about the stuff. The late great Teddy, however, was pretty much a coke-nipper.

I've heard that cats don't become affected by it until maturity....

4. I don't get my cats high.
Though the one has been known to hang around a session in the basement with me and my friends. Strange how when the bowl is done, he leaves.

He'd do the "crouch and bolt" getting all excited like something was after him. He was a connousseur of catnip also. Always liked the fresh grown bud...

19. Ah, you're sweet!
My cats name is Tippy. I'd post a pic, but it's quite large, but I think you've seen it already. I just feel uncomfortable about giving her catnip. Some people think I'm nuts for thinking that, but that's the way I feel. Now, doesn't your cat's name begin with the letter T also? Something like Tabitha?

her name is Tabitha (good memory)...I have seen the picture of Tippy! And I can understand why you feel uncomfortable giving Tippy catnip...Tab goes crazy if she doesn't have her daily catnip!

26. Well you know,
maybe we should just let our old cats have some fun! At least mine. She's in her waning years, maybe it'll make her last years more pleasant?

32. Same here...
My cat is in her twilight years...She is getting up there in age and I think it's time to let her have some fun...I was thinking about letting her outside during the summer (but not for long...and I of course would be by her side the entire time) She is always trying to sneak out...and of course she will be rewarded catnip for good behavior!

11. Our cats get their catnip by chewing on their scratching post,
which is filled with the stuff.

One's a cocaine-nipper, hyper, frisky, wants to play.

The other used to be a meth-nipper, but as she got older, she's become a pot-nipper.

12. You forgot "alcohol". My cats act stone drunk.
and get aggressive, when we use the nip. They can't stand upright, lean against the cat post, and just writhe in the stuff.

13. Other. My cat hates catnip.
Won't even lick it off of herself when we put it on her. Just won't try the stuff. All of our other cats have loved catnip.

23. My parent's cat was a pothead kitty.
You'd find him laying in a closet with glazed eyes looking up at you. He passed away a few years ago (R.I.P. AJ). Their other cats ignore catnip.

33. Total pothead. He just chills, and can't get enough of the stuff
We put some catnip on a scratch pad one time to get him to use it (unfortunately, those things only work well if you train them on it while they are still a kitten).

All he did was sniff it, then rub his head on it, then he rubbed it all over his whole body, laid on the scratch pad, and passed out.

Once we took one of his toy mice, put it in a bag of catnip and shook it around, and then gave it to him to play with.

He sniffed it, and the proceeded to scoop it up with his paw and rub it on his head and body like it was a bar of soap. Then he ate a bunch of food and fell asleep in the bathroom, in front of the food bowl.
